Blackberry Pearl Email and IM issues

I am new to tmobile and the Blackberry pearl and have so much frustration since I got the phone a few days ago.

These are my 3 unresolved issues:

I wanted to set up my blackberry.net email address so I found the tutorial online and I realized that in my menu I don't have the icon on the phone to do so. So I tried to set up the email via the web and I am continually being told that the PIN and IMIE number on my phone are invalid. Each time I contact Tmobile on this one I keep getting disconnected or hung up on.

I have downloaded yahoo messenger however, I always get the message "that the service is not enable for this handset" everytime I try to log on.

Then a friend who has the same phone mentioned to me that I didn't really need yahoo as the phone already as Oz Instant Messenger on it. Lo and behold OZ IM client is nowhere on my phone. Not to mention the fact that when I brought my phone home I had to call and have tmobile get myfaves onto my phone because that icon and option was no where to be found.

Any suggestions on what I can do about any of this would be appreciated!

christina, welcome to rabroad

do you have a blackberry data plan? im not sure on the PIN/IMEI number being invalid. did you mean 'already in use'? did you buy this bb brand new from tmo?

if in fact you hava a data plan, i believe you can get the OZ messenger (which uses SMS, not data) by visiting mobile.blackberry.com from your blackberry browser. be sure to backspace/delete the www in the 'go to' field.

Welcome to the stacks Do you have a Blackberry Data plan for Tmobile? They run about $20 a month on top of your calling plan.

Edit: Cherri beat me to it. Having a data plan could potentially solve all these problems.

Uh-oh -- I'll be VERY careful not to repeat anything Cherri said and incur her wrath

Christina, welcome! When you call T-Mobile support,

1) Ignore the choices given to you by the automated voice-recognition front end
and say the word "Blackberry", to reach the BB people. Plain vanilla ones cannot help you.

2) Call from another phone if possible, not your Blackberry

3) If they hang up on you intentionally, it is a no-no; call again, ask for a manager and complain

4) Since you are experiencing disconnects, give the service person your phone number up front and ask that s/he call you back in case this happens.

Good luck!

After quite some time on the phone my issues were finally resolved. Apparently when my phone was updated to add the myFaves to it someone didn't fully process the update.

After getting the update fully processed I seem to have all the icons that I was missing and I have finally gotten the blackberry email all set up nicely. I had no clue how many things that were missing from my phone until the update went through and I had all these other programs to play with now lol.

Thank You for all of your suggestions!

Yeah sounded like a provisioning problem to me. When the BB data plan has not been fully provisioned you get the invalid pin and or imei message because your device has not registered on the blackberry network.
