Blackberry Pearl 8110 unlocking, please help?

I have a blackberry pearl 8110, locked to T-Mobile, and I want it unlocked so I can use my O2 PAYG sim card (I am willing to take it to a service centre and pay for it to be done properly, rather than do it myself and get it wrong, as I am not very technically-minded.) The problem is I don't have a T-mobile sim card. is this something I would need to get it unlocked. Is it going to be worth my while to buy a pay as you go T-Mobile sim card so I can access the phone before it is unlocked?
