i've bb 8320 and i was wondering who will tell me how to download the bb msger 5.0. I noticed that tmo reps can't help me figure out why my current bb msger does not make any sound when i receive a msge. Help please.

I'll advice not to run it on your device. Your device won't be able to handle it properly. Thus, making it act a bit quirky here and there. I'm just trying to save you the grief . Nonetheless, you will be able to run it but not as good as any of these new devices which have more onboard memory. My 2 cents. Good luck!

Thank you for the warning. Is it what happened to you? Did you upgrade to bb msger 5.0 and you curve did not work? I read blackberry.com and crackberry.com that it was stable. Please, tell me more. I am curious.
thanks

Yes you can run bbm 5.0 on your curve. I have it on my 8330 with no problems. Make sure your have the latest os installed on your phone. Like 4.5 or higher. You can download here at www.blackberry.com/messenger. From your phones browser.

Thank you. I have version 4.5 on my phone and version 5.0 for my desktop. So in term of software i should be good. How much memory does it take? How different is it from the old version? Is it user friendly and stable? Do you get a sound when you receive a msge? Does it really do what they say it can do?

Yes but the so called upgrade doesn't quite look like an improvement. You have to download a picture when someone sends you one which is totally different from what you have. Okay, you get avatar display/more smileys and pin print and able to pull your contactys via email but that to me is very annoying. That's just my honest opinion.

Yeah I agree raton, I liked the old bbm file/image sending better. I guess this prevents people from sending unwanted images... ?

Yes raton and lavagirl have good/bad points about it. I can't tell you the file size, but it is stable on my 8330. So different strokes for different fokes. Give it a try and if you don't like it, you can always downgrade back.

I tried bbm 5 on my unlocked 8310 with a hybrid 4.6 os and it's always frozen up on me at various points. Did so as well on a stock 4.5 os too. From what i've read, I feel the old bbm is better.

I don't mind having to save the images...what I really like is that people can send you the original image instead of a blurry grainy file that is shrunk down to 15KB. I thought that was basically pointless before.

since installing the official bbm download, i haven't had to save the images before viewing. i figured this was new with the official. have ya'll gone and downloaded the official and not the leaked?
