BlackBerry Connect on Nokia E70

Good question. Here's hoping. Nokia recently released a firmware update for the E70-2. Perhaps this changes things with the BBC client?

Still waiting and still pissed. I finally read/realized the "fine print" when downloading the BB Connect client. All of the clients online are for 2.618.**, while my rom is 2.0618.**. I guess that explains why the PIN area is always blank. Needless to say I've sent yet another email to Nokia asking the to hurry the F up before I toss this thing.

That's even better. Then what happens when you try to send? Do you receive email? Sounds to me like your data plan isn't setup correctly then. Like I said, I had to change my TMo plan to Unlimited BB w/BES. It would seem to me it's your Data plan that's causing it not to send/receive, since it went through the motion of downloading your calendar, etc., you should be all set.

PS: I'm looking through the Cincinnati Bell website (by the way I'm from Yellow Springs), and they don't make it clear on which plan to be on for BES. Which data plan do you have?

Here's yet another "generic" reply from Nokia. They must have a application that put's your name in the right place so all they have to do is hit reply!

This is awsome, I jst got the phone tonight and am all set up on Cingular's BIS. can you have BIS and BES at the same time or just one or the other?

Cool, Everything is now working BIS and BES, do you know if there is a way to change the display of the list of emails. i dont really need the time and would rather have more of the subject?

Well what more do you want from them? A cookie?

He told you that it's not available, end of story...there's no need to cry or complain about it.

And his response was anything but generic. It seems to have addressed the issue in every which way....

I noticed today on the Nokia Business Software site that there is a newer version of BB Connect and this time it lists the newer America firmware 2.0618. as compatible in the release notes document. I'm at work right now and don't have my USB cable and was hoping someone could test and see if the PIN field is now populated with the version? I also noticed that TMobile is back in the drop-down so perhaps we're getting closer to a release. Yeah!

Hey Craig

Same with me - I'm still on 1.06 too - updater won't give me anything else.

Yes! its working great - from businesssoftware.nokia.com I navigated to BBC downloads, then chose Americas, Other Carrier, and E70. I selected the one for 1.06. I already had the desktop software loaded, but it integrated with my companies BES server seamlessly

So far, no issues for me, but i usually recharge most nights anyhow

Thanks for all your help smfa1965. I do have the correct plan with CBW. Re-verified that with them as well as my IMEI that they had. Still no luck. Continuing my efforts...

BTW - Will be in Yellow Springs for Turkey Day. Still would love to run into Chappelle at Ha-Ha Pizza one day

FWIW, I also followed smfa1965's instructions (thanks again smfa1965) and ran into two bumps along the way to success:

1) I d/l the BBC files for 2.xx firmware without confirming that I'm still on 1.06 (easily corrected)

2) I d/l the T-Mobile version, which I could not REGISTER with my network (I'm on Rogers Wireless in Canada). I then downloaded the Americas, Other, E70 version (again for my 1.06 firmware) installed it and Registered with the network when requested.

Yea that would be nice. Don't know when I'll be back. Going to Montreal for TDay. Did you verify your ROM per kylet's post? I believe my original post was unclear but since you're on CBW not TMo, you'll want to install the "Other" software instead.

Yea, my phone is on 2.0618.07.10 and I selected "Other" and installed Nokia S60PR2 BlackBerry Connect 6.40.0_10 (for 2.618.07.10).

One odd thing. When I first installed on the E70, I got the little BlackBerry active symbol both on the main screen of the phone as well as next to the BlackBerry Inbox in Menu/Messag.. Now I only have it on the main screen. Not sure why that is, but I haven't turned off the BlackBerry Connect service since installing.

Just configured a co-workers new E70 purchased directly from Nokia/Let's Talk (same place I purchased mine) and BlackBerry Connect works flawlessly. Of course, one MAJOR difference is his S60 is 1.610.05.07.
