BlackBerry Connect on Nokia E70

You need to install the *.sisx client file to the phone and run the API Wizard after installation. I mentioned how I did this in a earlier post in this thread. Once that's done try and setup BIS with your provider and make sure it works. That way if you run into any issues setting up BES you'll know at least that it isn't the software on your phone.

I don't know if you've been following this Nokia debacle, but virtually all people that had the E70 with an earlier firmware version number 1.610.05.06 (that's the first firmware version that original batch of E70's shipped with as far as I know) and used the online updater to try and upgrade to firmware version 1.0610.05.07 ended up with completely dead phones. That's right, Nokia firmware update has "bricked" a whole bunch of E70's out there. At this point, the updater web site still lists E70 as one of the supported phones, but Nokia has quietly pulled the firmware for E70 off the updater service completely. For about a day or two the updater application gave me a message that my phone's firmware is up to date but gave me an option to reinstall it. At this point (after a bunch of people killled their phones trying to upgrade them) it only says that there is no firmware available at all and does not give any option to reinstall. I sincerely hope that Nokia can fix this and make a new version 2.0618.07.09 available and that it won't kill any more phones (keeping my fingers crossed). I also read in another forum that the version you have (2.0618.07.09) is currently in a Prerelease 2 stage, whatever that means. I love how Nokia chooses to keep its custormers completely in the dark about all this but than again this seems to standard operating procedure for the corporate world in general.

Well I can't get it to 'register now' on my blackberry. In fact, I don't even have an option to try it as shown in a screenshot of setup instructions for Rogers new E62.

In order for me to download the product, I had to claim I was from Asia. There's no European or American support from Nokia yet. And the Rogers situation is even more frustrating because they have the product......don't get me started lol...

I'm using a Visto application called Rogers MyMail...which sort of does the job.

It's ok but I haven't found a way to make it alert me when a message has been received. I mean if I didn't have the inbox as part of my active standby, I'd never know I'd have new mail unless I went directly into the mailbox. This is major bunk.

Second of all, there's been at least 3 or 4 times tonight where my outlook has downloaded my email before my phone has. My outlook could have never beaten my Blackberry in getting an email. It'd tie at best because the @rogers.com is fully push now being a @yahoo.ca account.

Third, my GPRS is now ALWAYS connected. I hate that. Does BB connect stay connected 24/7 too? I see the arrows check from time to time but not say there transmitting.

I also have an e70-2 now. They've been selling them at the us and chicago stores in person for a while.. no great mystery; I just imagine people looking to resell on ebay wanna keep some information imbalance going on.
In any event I'm also trying to load bbc. Running 1.0610.05.07. I downloaded the bbc software for the e62 (all I could find for symbian) from http://www.businesssoftware.nokia.com/blackberry_downloads.php. I was able to load it on the phone no problem. I now have the blackberry options/menu within email settings. Almost looks good, but the PIN number reads blank. When I run any blackberry desktop software (including the 2.1.1.17 on the above link) it always says no device connected. I'm still trying with bluetooth. I don't have the usb handy but if a coworker does I may give that a shot, although I'm not expecting it to make a difference. I do have blackberry service, had a 6682 before this live on bbc (yet another slew of drama, but it worked). I'm SOOO frickin close.. yet.. nuthin. Anyone make it past this point?

Yes. Host is SAVVIS. My account is set-up on the BES, but that's where their support stops when dealing with non-RIM devices.

Curious as to what people's BlackBerry/Host routing settings show on the E70. Mine has the APN as blackberry.net and I/P Ports as 206.51.26.189:19780:19781.

I am having the same exact problem with my new E70-2, cannot connect to BB Connect Desktop. Anyone know how to make this work?

Matt

Wirelessly posted (Nokia e70: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Symbian OS; Nokia N70/0618.07.10; 9730) Opera 8.65 [en-US])

That's what I have. Why don't you have them put you into New Activation mode and connect up tp your corp lan anyway? I would think the routing is in place to get there.

Thanks for sharing the steps in getting your BIS working. I am with T-Mobile using an E70-2 and it works great. The only question is when deleting email on the phone it works great. When using my BB Pearl it also gave me the option to delete email just on the phone or on the email server too. Can this be done on the E70? If so how?

Thanks

Yes. Go into BB Settings on your phone. Go to the second tab from the left and scroll to the bottom to Wireless Reconcile. In there highlight "Delete from". You can toggle between "Phone Only" and "Phone and Server". Exit out and you're all set.

1000th Post! 'bout time.....

As I said, it's the same as yours. Here's one other thought. Do you have Admin rights on your pc at work? If not, do you have onsite IT personnel? You may need full rights to get it to work but I'm not sure. Did you load BB Connect on your office pc? Is Outlook 2003 configured with your Mail Profile (should be by default). Did you install and then connect your phone with PC Suite? Launch BB Connect. It should ask you for your OL profile or if there is only one it'll select that one. If BB Connect opens on your desktop then that's half the battle. Make sure your settings are to Redirect to Handheld, Inbox is selected and cick Connect. It should be straight forward after that. How far do you get?

Sorry, didn't see that. I am the admin on the PC as well as the SAVVIS admin so I deal with their support directly. Latest steps I have taken:

E70 info - 2.0618.07.10, 31-08-06, RM-24
Outlook 2003 loaded w/profile & 'Use Cached Exchange Mode' unchecked
BlackBerry Connect Desktop 2.1.1.19 installed on PC
Nokia S60PR2 BlackBerry Connect 6.40.0_10 installed (and operating) on E70
E70 connected to PC via Data Cable and running PC Suite
BlackBerry Connect Desktop has Outlook 2003 Profile loaded, PIN assigned, Redirect & Inbox selected and is connected to E70

That all sounds good. What happens when you hit Connect in BB Connect? Nothing? It should immediately connect and if you have Encryption selected it should then ask you to move your mouse for a few seconds to generate the key.
