BlackBerry Connect on Nokia E70

I have an unlocked Nokia Blackberry, e70-2. It is a great phone, except that it did not come with blackberry connect. I have tried to download and run the European BB connect, but it will not run on the phone. I Have the latest firm ware that was just released for it in Aug. of 06. Has any one else been able to Get BB to run or know of where I can get the client for it. Thanks.

Wait, you had to connect it to BB Connect Desktop for it to generate a PIN? I didn't have to do that on my e61. Installed the client and turned it on and the PIN was there. I thought the Desktop connect was only used if you were going to connect to BES?

Can you please outline specifically what you downloaded (from where, filenames, versions etc), and then what steps you took to install and get up and running on both the client on the phone and the bb connect on the pc.

I've gone back to businesssoftware.nokia.com and tried downloading all of the different clients for both the E70 and pc, but no combination seems to work...

Thanks in advance from ALL of us waiting SO LONG to get our BB Connect working,
Kyle

Well, I downloaded the TMo file SR60PR2_Blackberry_Connect_for_T-mobile_6.40.0_10.sisx file from here: BB Connect: Europe Link for TMo

I figured since the new version that I mentioned on the US link was the same as the Europe TMo that I'd download and install that one instead. Installed to phone via PC Suite. Once it was installed it launched by itself to the API Setup program. It asked me if I wanted Blackberry Solution or Instant Email? I said Blackberry Solution. It then gave me a the message that it had been configured. At that point the Blackberry icon appeard in the upper right hand corner of the screen. I went into Messages/Settings/Email/Blackberry and confirmed that the service was on. I then checked to see if the PIN was listed. And it was!! Thank goodness and about time.

I then clicked Options and clicked Register Now. I logged into my TMo account from my computer and it immediately asked me if I wanted to use the new BB Device with the PIN that was now on my e70. Said yes and setup my POP3 account. Few minutes and registration messages later, email was flowing down to the device.

Concerning the Blackberry Desktop Connect software. I believe that is only needed if you are going to setup BES. What I described above is the setup for BIS. Tomorrow I"ll setup BES. Can't do that from home since I need to be physically connected to my office LAN.

I can't say where I got mine from, but I work directly with Nokia. As of now they will not be picked up by any US carrier. In about a month or so, you should be able to buy them online from various resellers. In regards to the Black Berry connect, I have tried every version availble off of Nokia's site. None of them will work. My firm ware version is 2.0618.07.09, 17-08-06, so I know it is the latest out there. I just feel that it is so new they have not caught up with the BB connect yet. Does anyone have any ideas?

smfa1965,

Thanks for your reply! Do you have a E70 or a E70-2?

The reason I ask is because the version on my E70-2 is:
1.0610.05.07
30-05-06
RM-24
Nokia E70

Thanks again...

Wirelessly posted (Nokia e70: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Symbian OS; Nokia N70/0618.07.10; 9730) Opera 8.65 [en-US])

I have the North American version, E70-2. I'm also running the latest firmware, 2.0618.

Yes I have the phone, but the one service that I want to use I can't get on it. If someone has the E70-1 does the BB connect work on it here in the states. I'm trying to find out if anyone who has gotten a E70-2 has the BB on it. Mine came with no book or box, so I don't know what acctually came with the phone offically.

It's probably due more to the new firmware version that you're running and not the hardware version. Pretty much every E-70 up to this point has version 1.0610.05.07 on it and nobody as far as I know has been able to get hold of anything newer yet. On the Nokia business software page it says that BBConnect needs firmware version 1.0610.05.07 to run. Maybe they need to update the BBConnect to work with the newer version and since the newer firmware is not available yet, they haven't done it yet for BBConnect either. Did you download the BBConnect from here:
http://www.businesssoftware.nokia.com/blackberry_downloads.php ?
Disregarding where you got the phone from that everybody is asking, where did you get the new firmware from is my question. I think that the E-70 is in a desperate need of a firmware upgrade and I would love to get mine updated. Anybody heard anything about this 2.0618.07.09 version?

I got mine working on BES this morning. Setup BIS for my Comcast account last night and have BES running alongside at the same time.

To get it working your need a few things. One is to make sure your data plan includes BES, not just BIS. At least that's the way it is for TMobile. Then download the Nokia Desktop Connect Software. You can find it on one of the links in this thread. Call your IT Dept. and have them put you into New Activation mode on the BES server. Connect your e70 up to a computer, connected to your LAN and running PC Suite. Fire up BB Desktop Connect. You'll need to pick your Outlook profile. If you're like me running Citrix in my office, you'll need to setup a Outlook profile on your local desktop. Select the settings, Signature and folders you want to sync. Don't worry if it comes up "unknown pin". Once you've made your settings click Connect. A popup window will open asking you to move your computer mouse. At that point your PIN should pop into the window and the setup/syncing process starts. Once finished, disconnect and do a test email. Should work just fine.

Good luck!

I was given my E70-2 with the updated firm ware. For the hell of it, I plugged it in to Nokias new firmware updator adn it said it was up to date. If you have an E70-2 you might wan to see what the updator says in regards to availible firm ware. On a side note, I treid to load the new E62 BB connect on and it would not run. Thought it was worth the chance to try it.
