Blackberry Bold 9700 Call Problem?

I recently purchased a blackberry bold 9700 from an individual retailer (so not from a main company) as I did not like my current Blackberry storm 2 on the o2 network.
The Bold was locked to vodaphone so I had it unlocked. When I attempt to make a phone call or send a text message It fails.
However it did work on 2 separate occasions for around 10 minutes.. so Im not not sure if its the unlocking or the phone itself?

Any ideas or experiance?
