Blackberry-as-modem service interruption

I use my Blackberry as a tethered modem for my laptop.
Service was unavailable yesterday (Tue Oct 30), 10 pm to midnight and beyond, Los Angeles area.
The connection sequence would fail before reaching the stage "Registering your computer on the network..."

Did this happen to anybody else?

I have ATT for my carrier. The tethered function of my phone is far from reliable. I find that it will work one minute and the next it could fail for a day or more. Keep in mind that the signal is between 4 and 5 bars and the EDGE network is available. I gave up using it because it is virtually useless in its current state.

Sorry to hear that, erick. With T-Mo, the service is OK -- much slower than the nominal connection speed, but still serviceable. Being dropped, like you are experiencing, does happen but only once in a while, and a re-connect fixes it. Maybe ATT puts it on a VERY back burner!...

So this was the first time of an outright failure, i.e. inability to connect [with 4-5 bars signal present].

I think there is a point in mentioning such events here... to have a sort of record, in the long run, of which Company performs which way.
