I made my order through customer loality (also called customer retention). They can waive fees and shipping cost. End result is paying less. Our two new 9700's should arrive tomorrow.
 
no you do not need the data plan. you just have to do all of this through customer care on the phone.

and before anyone starts yelling about having a bb with no internet is stupid, it isnt. i just want the full keyboard and uma. i have a laptop with me at all time for the internet. i also have my work blackberry that has internet. i dont need it on my personal phone too. 65 a month for unlimited talk/text is borderline too damned expensive as it is. i am not paying any more money than that.
 
everytime i talked to retentions they ask me if there's something wrong with my current phone. should i be saying something else? i just say no but i'm looking at a different phone.
 
Labev, don't go to retentions, they won't do anything unless they really feel your phone is bad or tmo not giving you good service- call 611 and when the "operator" asks what the call about say business- at least that's what I did!
 
hmm okay. in january i had no problem at all getting hte 8900 i don't know why its such a hassle now. im not the only one trying to get it while in a contract right? thanks again serviiciio
 
I spoke with retentions and that's how I was able to get the phone with a full discount, the person that I spoke with was almost able to put it in but she was having a system issue but she put the notes in. I still put an order in early before the 16th somehow or other. I got mine and I'm still in a contract.
 
wow still no luck. ive talked to retentions, businesses, and customer service. no budge. even business line transferred me to customer service. guess i am out of luck.
 
rententions helped us with full discount and waived upgrade fee and shipping. Two of the 3 the upgrades were waived to be early upgrades one was from an upgrade done last May, the other one from an added new line done last June. All depends on who you ask. Everyone we talked to as we did the orders was really nice. The stores honored the price quote from retentions. Now we have 3 new 9700's I hope we like this new model, I really liked my 8900.
