just tried 3.4 and get the same error. i just bought the solution but can't even use it now because of this error. i flashed prl to alltel 8330 with no problem with qxdm but i didn't need to get spc like i do for this sprint phone. this really sucks

My first post; I was able to do a verison blackberry 8330 to metropcs. Of course that you need to search for the right tools. Took me 2 day to find and alot of reading something people online don't like to do.
You need:
Blackberry: Desktop Manager ( I use V 5.0)
QPST : 2.7 build 323 to get the phone to connect only. you don't do much with this.
this two are for connection purpose they only help you connect once they are setup right. LOOK FOR THE INSTRUCTIONS
the most important is QXDM but you need to 2 type.
version 2.08 " only with this version you are going to be allow to update the PRL
---- with command pr_list_wr 0 "C:\prl_1039.prl"
If needed change file path to location of PRL. Output should read successful.
Version 3.11.36
is the one that is going to help you locate the 10-16 memory addresses that you need to change incase you need to repair your ESN.

You need to search for the instructions on how to do most of the things. they are online . search but this are the main programs you need.
I hope this help
Thank you

MOST IMPORTANT -- WINDOWS XP NO ANTIVIRUS (DISABLE) NO CDMA WORSHOP - DID NOT NEED THE SPC - VERISON IS 000000

If the Phone needs the ESN repair - You do that first
The blackberry 8330 will no take any ESN that starts with 80
there Is 8 NUMBER IN TOTAL the first two can not be 80

You need your phone disconnect from service
Once you obtain the SPC/MSL, exit UniCDMA and run QXDM.

Configure QPST (globe in system tray) and QXDM to the correct ports, phone must show detected.

Using QXDM (ensure VIEW is set to COMMAND OUTPUT) type the following commands:

mode offline-d
Turns radio off and sets to service mode. Check phone radio is off.

spc "******"
Replace asteriks with the 6 digit code. Output should read successful.

pr_list_wr 0 "C:\prl_1039.prl"
If needed change file path to location of PRL. Output should read successful.

nv_write sec_code {"000000"}
Optional: use this command to change code to zeros or another 6 digits.

e) mode reset
Reboots phone to reset mode.

9) Finally, through the phone type #4357* (#HELP*) to verify the PRL write.

##6digitMSL and SEND to start NAM Programming

I've also found that there are times them phones will not accept a " *228 " . You may have to continue to do a manual program after it re-starrt's, you will need the MIN provided by cricket. In most cases you could use your old phone, enter the service menu and find the MIN under the MLSI_S (if my memory serves me correct) that should take care of the problem

Ok, so... I have this BB 8330... I flashed it just like I did my old one from sprint... but now, the WAP and MMS won't work. I've heard something about having to downgrade the software.... can someone please point me in the correct direction to get this thing working...

Its the new 8330 by sprint

Thanks in advanced for all your help

Oh, ya, many, many, many times. Infact I have a BB World Edition that is CDMA and GSM (storm) with working Wap, MMS, E-Mail, and etc....

but sprint did something with their software   and now the newer versions of the curve's, from my understanding you need to do a software downgrade?

Any help would be appreciated

Well I havent done a sprint one yet.

I imagine downgrading the sprint bb's is the same as the any other.

Have you tried the loader in C:\Program files\Research in Motion\Blackberry

I believe thats where it is.

If it is a sprint and you got the service books from tony, do a IOTA bypass per his instructions. You have to do those on Alltel and Sprint Blackberry's.

If you are able to get the "Cricket globe" on there then the software isn't doing anything to block it.

Another thing to check is the Reg ID. I always use my home SID.

Hope this helped.

Ya, changed the SSID and all that... Cricket Globe is there, everything seems to work, but when it tries to connect, it just sits there... ....

I'll try a few other things with it as well... Not sure if it will work though, I'll let ya's know if I get something... vice versa, thanks for your feedback and look forward to working with ya to get it working.

I checked in to the software versions, and the software shows that its the same as the BB's that I've previously got working.... (With the help of everyone of course :p )

I am assuming this is a Sprint Blackberry? If so, check the sid, blackberry REG ID, and make sure the country code is at 310 and the network code is 00. Another problem might be the firewall blocking the internet. In that case, I usually just wipe the handheld and reflash the phone and the internet works.

I still think it is the IOTA though. If you got the solution through Tony he gives you the instructions on how to bypass that.

Just tried to make sure the settings were as you stated, looks good, but still didn't work. So I wiped the handheld, still no luck... I will have to get a hold of Tony to get the instructions for the IOTA....

I did however get 2 out of the 5 working with the suggestions that you put up :buddies:  ... but these other 3 are just being a pain
