Blackadder In the Movies Noooooooo!

I have heard a rumour and I am hoping it is not true. (fingers crossed) There might be a movie remake of the TV series Blackadder but without Rowan Atkinson instead it will be an American take of the TV series staring star Steve Martin. :eek:

I really hope these rumours are false and someone is winding me up.

I am already dreading the release of Pink Panther with Steve Martin. :(
 
They really need to stop with this.

We need more orignal ideas, all I'm seeing at the moment is TV shows made into films, remakes or sequels or revials of films from years ago. With a few new films turning up now and then :(

The Pink Panther won't turn out good in my opinion.

Lets hope this is not sure. It will be no where near as good as the TV show.
 
Heard a similar rumour a couple of years ago about Steve Martin, but it was about "Father Ted" if I'm not mistaken. Heard nothing since...
 
Someone really need to slap some sense into Steve Martin... I don't know if this is true (i hope to god it's not), but we are talking about a guy that thought he could do Bilko, and thinks he can replace Peter Sellers... Hard to believe there was a time when Steve Martin was actually original and funny...
 
I personally can't see this working at all (if it's true, please NO!!) as film, especially an American film.

Blackadder is just so wonderfully British, I can't see how it would translate. Haven't they learned from disasterous attempts at remaking Fawlty Towers? Just doen't work!

They should just show the original TV series over there, I know plenty of Americans who enjoy British comedy.
 
Nooooooooooooo !! I was having such a good day then I spot this thread tucked away. Leave our sitcoms alone, please ! Why couldn't Steve just be happy to be remembered from Parenthood,Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Roxanne ??

I'm gonna have a Blackadder DVD fest this weekend and regale myself of it's original brilliance.
