I have 2 goldfish and 1 algae eater. My goldfish, Hootie, is turning black on the fins, and around the mouth. I thought it was fin rot, but then I noticed his mouth changing too.
I asked on a forum and they said to maybe isolate the fish that's changing for a week or so and see what happens, or to try to do a 1/4 water change ever week.
I wouldn't mind trying the isolation tank, or the water change, but which should I try first? Also, I do have a small tank to put him in if I do isolate him, but it's only a 1 and a half gallon tank, is that too small for a week? It's what I always put them in when I do a partial water change.
((Note: my boyfriend was trusted to feed them about 8 days ago, and ended up putting in way too much food. Couldn't that effect them?))
