Black Spot Inside of Cheek

I just noticed yesterday that I have a dark black spot on the inside of my cheek. It's small but highly noticable since it's so dark. NO, it's not because I bit the inside of my cheek. Anyone have any idea what this could be?

Dark spots inside the mouth such as you mentioned can be caused by something minor such as biting the area (lol) or an amalgam tattoo (imprint from a filling), or something major such as melanoma (especially if you have any congestion or a runny nose). As well, dark spots in the mouth may be an indication of a systemic disorder.

In ALL cases it is said that you MUST see a doctor!

See an ENT-I just had one removed from under my tongue in April 2008. Mine was amalgam tatoo. Harmless. But it must be removed to make sure that is what in fact it is. No emergency-but sooner vs later.
