"Black Panther (Animated Series)" News & Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

When this series comes out, I just hope it doesn't turn out to be a "no body" marvel series like spiderman unlimited. Also, when they present it, it should be connected to other marvel shows like the ones from the 90's.

Just saw the first 2 episodes ,great show.I got used to the motion comic style very quickly.I hope it get a second season ,season one is too short

God no! Spectacular Spider-Man is absolutely incredible and the new X-Men and Iron Man shows look like they'll be pretty neat, no need to taint them with this tripe.

The only reason having a big shared universe worked for the timmverse was because they all had the same studio and much of the same crew working on them.

I'm not really a Black Panther fan, but this is interesting news, good news for fans of the character. It's only too bad that it will air on BET, a station that isn't watched by vast majority of people (Heck, I can't even tell you what number BET is on my DirecTV!). It will probably do about as well as Mainframe's Spider Man series did on MTV.

I'm still feeling pretty cautious about how this will turn out. I don't doubt that the guys at Titmouse are hard at work on it but I'm still fearful it will end up looking like a motion comic. IMHO, John Romita's panels should have just served as inspiration instead of actually being animated. I really hope they prove my fears wrong though and I'm hoping for the best. Does anyone else feel as though we only get news about this show once every six months ?

I was pretty opposed to this show's animation before. In my opinion, Marvel animation had reached a point where they didn't need to do that very limited stuff, especially when using a lesser known character that they hope to gain an audience with. With all of the Adult Swim shows I watch, I've probably come to terms with it by now. Heck, Syfy actually televised motion comics on AniMonday and I'd say this is a step up. While similar what I've seen is more animated than regular motion comics. I still think it would have been best if they didn't just animate JRjr's actual artwork, and this is coming from a guy that's always been a fan of his.

I haven't watched BET in a very long time so I really don't know if they've ever made an announcement or if this would fit their current programming. I'd like to see how they handle it though and hopefully it's soon. I'd guess that Hudlin and Titmouse are very done by now. Hopefully if any further Panther stuff is done, it's something with a better budget or more animation. Knowing that Titmouse did a lot of work on G.I. Joe Resolute, I keep thinking of something along those lines.

BET stands for BLACK ENTERTAINMENT TELEVISION. BET is currently owned by Viacom/Paramount. BET is broadcast in America.

As for the BP cartoon itself, I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand, I'm happy that BP is finally getting his own cartoon and that the series is being animated by Film Roman. On the other hand, I am sad that this series is going to be airing on BET,is going to be shown in primetime (a death sentence for action adventure cartoons, especially superhero cartoons),and is going to be based off of Hudlin's crappy BP run.

I strongly believe that the only reason Hudlin was allowed to write (and continue to write, despite plummeting sales) the BP comic and do pretty much anything he wants with the character is because (a) he's a Hollywood celebrity writer/director/producer/executive and (b) because Hudlin most likely promised/assured them that he would get a BP cartoon on BET.

I really liked , I thought It was going to be a motion comics , but is only a cartoon with diferent design.I loved the X-men.But Cap. voice was crap.

Of course anime has bigger budget than this turkey, at least anime has animation, where the characters move and everything. Let's face it dub bing studios don't have a choice when it comes to when the voices are recorded. Most American voice actors I have heard of think that its easier to give a performance with pre-lay because they can focus only on the performance This just smacks of cheapness, the usual BET production that lacks: a budget, talent, pride, self respect, but does have desire to spread malice and everything else Boondocks has said about them.

On a more general note, I don't care for the character, he is in Africa, not they hardly ever let him deal with real problems in Africa. I mean if he has all this amazing tech, why doesn't he cure AIDs or fight the blood diamond trade. They can't do those stories because that kind of subject matter would not be considered appropriate for a super hero comic book. Which is fine, but it puts the character is such a limiting box. He lives in Africa, but can't really deal with anything important in Africa. At least Luke Cage could deal some issues important to African Americans.

excellent news! I'm looking forward to watching this, then eventually getting the dvd season sets.. all 12 of them..

for soundtrack/score, I suggest Chuck D & the Bomb Squad (Dark Angel soundtrack)

I would love to see:

the current series first arc, #1 - 6..

also any other historical arcs (Panther vs. the Klan!), although I don't know about the legal availability of certain characters-- i.e, Storm, Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, etc.

Yeah it does feel that way.

And like a stated before, they need to start promoting this series now. Black Panther is not a very well known character, so the series needs a bit of a push to get ppl interested enough to check it out. But alas it's on B.E.T (which i think is a big mistake to begin with) - that network has gone down the crapper ever since Bob Johnson sold it to Viacom.:(

Personally I've always thought Black Panther should try and do more high end superhero stuff then taking out drug dealers in the projects or whatever. I mean the character is basically a heroic version of Doctor Doom with a little Captain America sprinkled on. He should be on the Avenger's starting line, he should be playing on the alien invasions and crazed cosmic entity level. To my mind Wakanda is essentially your basic Jack Kirby super-advanced lost civilization in the style of Kun-Lun or Attilan. The real twist being that it's full of black guys
