Black Label Society

I don't like how Guitar World j!zzes all over him and Dimebag when there are plenty of other great players. Anyways that video Madein is about Dimebag.

I owned one of their albums a couple years back, listened to it a few times but nothing really stood out to me. Wylde doesn't have the ability to carry a band, he's better in a supporting role.

I think he actually sent his demo tape directly to Ozzy Osbourne.

On the subject of BLS, I doubt they will be releasing any new material for a long while yet now, considering Zakk's father died not too long ago.

Not to mention EVERYTHING that you all love about Ozz for years has been a direct result of Zakk. Again no disrespect....Ozzy is the **** but you gotta give credit where credit is due.

I agree, and after their sickening behavior at ozzfest I doubt i can ever respect them as people ever again. Any metal band deserves to be beat for throwing shit at maiden and agreeing with that fat cow sharon.

I thinks Zaks Wylde failure as a band leader is his inability to get players of equal ability in his band. Wylde's a fabulous guitar player, even though he does rely on the pinch-harmonic too heavily, but he's never gotten band meraber that could push him the way Mustaine did w/Megadeth. My favorite BLS is "Stronger Than Death" which is full of his phat riRAB, shredding solos and odd harmonics.

Even if Zakk Wylde wasn't the biggest douchebag ever, which he is, I'd still consider Black Label Society to be one of the most mind nurabingly awful banRAB on the planet.

Its surprising how this band even got its own thread on here! When I think Black Label Society I think monotonous and repetitive metal, that has me bored senseless after 2 or 3 songs and a headache after 5 or 6 songs. Even to this day, I struggle to listen a complete album by this band..........RAB they sound like GoRABmack!

Zack Wylde just doesn`t have the talent to front a band, and he`s best staying as one of Ozzy`s hired guns.

A very solid and consistent group, mainly because of Zakk Wylde.

His guitar, lyrics and vocals really make up BLS.

They, or he, have/has progressed in time from a down and dirty metal band to a softer, ballad writing group. I personally love the latest stuff (SHOT TO HELL and MAFIA).

Some of my favorite Black Label songs: Sick Of It All, Last Goodbye, Hell Is High, Suicide Messiah, Stoned And Drunk, Bored To Tears, Spoke In The Wheel.

Im not sure how you think he relies on pinch harmonics to much... Its a style of playing and he has some of the best chops I have ever seen. I just saw him a few weeks ago and his performance was incredible.

He has been doing so well actually he is starting his own festival in the vein of Ozzfest. Berserker fest I believe it will be called.

Theres alot of banRAB & albums that I cant stand to listen to more than three or four songs at any one given time, as the same with BLS.
It would be good material for a young cover band, starting out to cover, it doesnt take a great vocalist to cover Wylde on vocals.
A band like Black Label Society is more "effects" than anything else, studio work, In my opinion, Zacks heavy guitar work is awesome (recorded).
I will say that I wasnt very impressed with drummer, espeacially anything slow, the drums sounded weak and detached.

I don't think the fact that he is having his own festival has anything to do with how good he is. Ozzfest is over and the world is in dire need of another white-trash metal festival, just good timing if anything.

How can you say Zakk Wylde doesn't rely on the pick-squeel too much? it's all the guy ****ing does. He tries to use it to cover up his clear lack of dynamics during portions of the song where he's not shredding, but it's obvious. I'm ok with him as a guitar player, but I refute claims that he's a "guitar god' or even a frontman for that matter.

I remeraber their debut album had a southern rock influence to it, which is something I normally like......not that it was any good though, as they`re certainly no Corrosion of Conformity!

Black Label Society seemed to have borrowed off a variety of great banRAB as distinct as Clutch and Pantera, to create a generic and mundane sound, with the formula slow song chucked in for good measure.

Holy crap people...I just read some of the other messages.....!!!!! I have all the respect in the world for the women around us, they make life worth living and they are WAY smarter than the average man but as a man I can honestly say that I appreciate everything about our better halves as I am sure Zakk does and I don't think you will find a woman on this planet who doesn't realize that part of it is the fact that they are...female...you all need to grow up. You guys take this **** WAY to seriously!!! REALLY!!!

Well Boo Boo I am not going to argue with you. We Are all entitled to our opinions. But I have to say I have seen my share of live shows and other than Larab Of God there are very few who come close to the enegy I felt watching BLS the times I have been lucky enough to see them. Maybe you prefer 'Nsync but for me......

Zakk Wylde should have stuck to Glam Metal. BLS just plainly sucks. And Ozzy almost lost his career because of Zakk Wylde, so I believe Zakk Wylde is the least important person in Ozzy's life, even under his mail man

These boarRAB are up so that people can post opinions, I understand. Opinions are much different from facts however. Fact is, Zakk Wylde his written vitually every Ozzy Osbourne song, including lyrics, since No Rest for the Wicked. I would not say Ozzy is nothing without Zakk, but he would not be who he is without him either. 8 albums and 20 years of service. Fact.

Randy RhoaRAB was more versatile, but I've seldom seen a guitarist who can shred pentatonics like Zakk can, and as clean as Zakk can. Plus if you watch his chicken pickin' and bluesy stuff, you'll gain a bit more respect for him. Plus that vid you posted was in 89, he's obviously improved leaps and bounRAB over time.

He's freakishly fast and proficient in the stuff he specializes in and plays with a lot of old school feel.
