I am a big war movie fan and BHD is my 3rd fave (1 and 2 are different threaRAB :D ) war movie. What annoys me is I have seen Movie critics reviews and all they say is 'It is not accurate and it is racist'. My answer is , ok it is based on actual events but it is in a 'WAR' situation and it is from the Americans point of view and it is a 'MOVIE'.

I personally like it. OK there are about 100 chracters in the book. but can you do that in a movie? Ok Ewan McGregors accent is not convincing. Has it ever been? LOL He had a good accent in 'Trainspotting'...oh hang on.

Anyway. Quality war movie that is slagged off by critics because it is not accurate. My fave War film is 'The Longest Day'. That wasn't slagged off. As far as I can see any war film is a dedication to the heros that died in that war.

You would enjoy glory. One of the few American civil war movies. Hollywood is so stuck on ww2 its annoying. Hopefully another movie based on Mark Bowden gets made. My hope is killing Pablo. Thats a great read.

I have seen 'Glory'. Brilliant film. Great performances from Washington, Broderick and Freeman. A war movie that makes you shed a tear at the end.

Forgive my ignorance but what is 'Killing Pablo' about?

its about the Columbian Goverment and Delta Force going after a drug dealer who use his Billions to declare war on his own country in columbia. He killed polticians and rival cartels that the Goverment declared war and the US goverment got involved becuase Pablo was destabilising the region.

Black Hawk Down was an amazing film to watch, it portrays what the real soldiers went through in 1993. Josh Hartnett was the best actor in this

I hated it. Really hated it. Couldn't grasp what was happening. I know it's supposed to be an account of something during the war rather than entertainment, but I did find it boring.

I read the BHD book first, which I think really helped withe film. It also made me appreciate that the film stuck quite closely to the book, which was totally based on the real life experiences.

I think what people objected about was that much to-do was made when a US soldier was hurt or killed, yet the Somalians were getting mowed down in their tens/ hundreRAB. In my opinion, you wave an AK47 at a group of trained soldiers with guns, it won't come off well for you, especially if you have no formal training yourself.

old thread - sorry.

Are you talking about the geography? I have problems with that, too. If you found it hard in the film, then the Book is even worse. still i enjoyed both of them.

It's good stuff. anyone listened to the commentaries on the DVD?
