black box left hand corner t.v

Hello

Has anyone had this problem before. I have a 6100 receiver hooked up to my t.v.

About 3 days ago this black box has appeared left hand corner and won't go away. Never happen before so i unplugged my receiver and plugged it back in and black box still there. It does not matter what channel i am on.

When receiver is unplugged the black box is gone.

Any information would be great
 
99% of the time this is a Closed Captioning isuse as SJ44 suggests. Turn CC off in your receiver and your TV and it should resolve it.
 
I checked cc on receiver and t.v both are off.

What i did was unplugged receiver and unplugged t.v and now it is ok.
It was just strange because it only started a couple days ago. I will see if it does it again.

This actually happened to me watching a dvd on the bedroom tv in the dark. Fumbled with the remote and out of nowhere a Bell (3100 receiver) channel showed up in the corner. I had accidentally turned on the pip on the tv. Now if the satellite receiver had been turned off, a black box in the corner would appear, or the reverse if you were watching satellite.
 
I have three 6100 and two of them have had this issue, I have to reset them to get rid of it. This has only started to happen these past few days. has there been an update to the 6100 to cause this.
 
Yeah, I just had the exact same problem with a 6100. Popped up when I was upstairs. Reset the receiver (hold the power button on the front till it resets) and all is well.

Originally I thought it was PIP on the TV, but further investigation revealed it was the expressvu receiver. The big clues were that the box wasn't present in the guide and also dissapeared when pressing info to bring up the program description. Wonder what's causing this all at once with us...
 
You are not alone. I think it showed up on my 6100 in the top left on Sunday.
I just held the on/off down for a reset and it disappeared.
 
what i ended up doing is unplugging t.v. and receiver again and that seem to do the trick.

Lets hope it does not happen again . I thought i had done something wrong.

I wonder what had cause this to happen to us?

wasn't there an issue with the 6100's when they re-added the 1000+ channels a few months ago? Could this be related?
 
Just curious about how big the black box is on the screen? Does it take up 25% of the screen or 5%? Is it square shaped or rectangular?

Hope that I may be able to help out somehow.
 
I would say 5'' or 6 '' long by 2'' or 3'' 5% of screen maybe

So far it has not come back

my 6100 has done this twice in the last week. Reset takes it away but something changed.
 
Monteh (and others) Do you find that it appears when you turn on the receiver or does it appear after tuning to a specific channel, when your channel surfing, accessing the guide, etc??

In other words, do you have any ideas that would help reproduce this?
 
Unfortunatley i was not there when it happens, I have been trying to reproduce the box but could not. I think it only happens when watching the HD channels, the first one happened when watching Oasis, dident pay attantion to the channel of the other times it had occured.
 
This happened again to me yesterday. Again I was not around when it happened, but it doesn't seem like anything triggered it. Just normal watching (it was on an HD channel, dunno if that made a difference though). Reset it again.
