black and blue and then a bump, please help

Hello i am new to the forum. I had a bruise on my right torso above the belt line. I noticed this a day after shoveling heavy snow. i dont know if the bruise(black and blue) was from shoveling or coincidence. i also noticed just above the bruise a oblong cyst,nodule? type thing. i am going to make appt with my dr but now am very nervous, is it a hernia?something more??

Sounds like it could be a hematoma, a collection of blood after injury that forms a lump and takes a long, long time to be reabsorbed. Keep an eye on it to make sure that it is not expanding any and let us know what your doc says.
