Bizarre urban legends about cartoons

There are quite a few people who believe 4kids had an eye on Yugioh way back in 1996 when season 0 aired in Japan, but passed it off in favor of the 1999 series (DM) due to violence. While season 0 was much more violent than the DM series later, that is the only truth in this. In fact, the Toei 1996 was not looked at by 4kids at all. Only when the NAS DM series made success did 4kids get into contact with Takahashi for the series.

Well we all know of the rumor of Walt Disney's brain being frozen in the basement of Disney Studios. That IS just a rumor right??

Transformers has a few, mainly about graphic content being cut from the movie. There is one famous case of this being generally true (Spike swearing) but the various legends state all kinds of horribly twisted scenes have vanished. Chalk it up to bad memories and fanboys expecting too much.

Well in the case of TF85.The Rumors of some scenes are true.IE

The scene where Ultra Magnus arrives with injured Autobots and Re-enforcements who then charge the Decepticons ala Light Brigade.

Tracks,Sideswipe,Sunstreaker,Windcharger,Wheeljack ect all die violent deaths.

This was to make it clear they will not return for the next season of the cartoon.

This scene was ment to tie into the scene with Arcee pulling Windchargers body.

The only part thats rumour is that this was animated, when it was not.

Only storyboarded.

The so called scene where you see Ironhides head get blown to bits is a lie.

Invader Zim has all sorts of lies circling around the reason for its cancelation. Many people believe it was canceled for all sorts of reasons, like being too dark/violent, parents complaining... I even heard one guy say the Bloody GIR drawing was the sole reason for the cancelation. All lies. No matter what anyone says, it was ratings.

The Pokemon rumors started because of "Beauty and the Beach" and "The Legend of Dratini" as mentioned above... but also when Pokemon was at its peak of popularity in the late 90s, crazy parents wanted any reason to hate the franchise, so they'd say things like that and also somehow equate it to being Satanist. When a huge franchise comes out that most of the kids in America become interested in, controversy will arise because of these people. The same thing happened with Harry Potter.

Here's a question I have for you guys: I've heard the rumor about the supposed Dexter's Laboratory episode "Dexter's Rude Removal" which is supposed to have Dexter and Dee-Dee swearing excessively. I heard it wasn't exactly a real episode, but was something that the crew made on the side to amuse themselves. Is it real or not?

Many of you should remember the little boy causing a fire that killed his little sister, while watching Beavis and Butt-Head.

It may not be a cartoon, but on teen killed his girlfriend by doing a wrestling move while watching WWE Wrestling.

Voice actress Mary Kay Bergman did commit suicide...BUT of a mental illness. The media sometimes forget that part.

Not quite what I'm talking about. There are some scrapped scenes as you mentioned (much as you'll find with near all movies) but there are cases of the more obsessive fans (the ones who can't accept Transformers is about a kids toyline) that insist all kinds of horrible stuff was either planned or pulled after the theatrical run.

I remember this rumor, Ward Kimball started it lol. I remember hearing somewhere that a woman at Nick during the time when Ren and Stimpy were on the air found the character Geroge liqour offensive because his last name sounded like "Lick her".

Aside from Disney, some people believed that Walt was in secret of the nazis.

It's real. I had an issue of Animation Magazine that advertised and reviewed a theatrical animation festival that Cartoon Network had that showed it and some WWII era cartoons as well as one of John K.'s Ranger Smith shorts.

I'm very shocked that "Dexter's Rude Removal" has never shown up on YouTube by now or leaked onto the internet.

Whoever has it must have it locked up in a vault somewhere.

I've read about the rumor that Nickelodeon canceled SpongeBob in 2002 because a kid drowned looking for him. If that were true, Nickelodeon would have the most fickle PR department in the world.

Also, don't you think Disney canceling anything because of the KKK would raise eyebrows if it did happen?

What about that Jessica Rabbit thing? Although that turned out to be true, as did the Bugs giving Mickey the finger in WFRR.

Speaking of Dexter's Rude Removal, does anyone know the story behind that infamous Rugrats storyboard that had Tommy's dad acting aggressive and swearing?

A confirmed one: The gag reel of Porky Pig saying the B-word is real, and until YouTube I was certain it was fake.

That's only what Jim Hill said, and if you look at the one frame, that's what it appears to be, but the animation itself is Bugs raising all his fingers one by one around a carrot before chomping it. It's not the bird or it'd be more direct.

The version I heard is that the animators secretly made an animation of Jiminy Cricket pleasing Tinkerbell with, um, his mouth and they would slip it into dailies to pull a prank on rookies. That also came from Jim Hill.

Hah! Populated how?

I've actually heard that 4Kids would never dub the series because of the violence, but I don't think that was the case. I believe that there would be some legal issues in acquiring the series from Toei, especially from TV Tokyo since they redid some of the scenes in the Toei series. Plus, considering that it doesn't promote the card game that much, not to mention all of the contradictions in this series' continuity when compared to DM, there wouldn't be much of a point in 4Kids acquiring the Toei series.
