This post is just to tell you about my positive experience with the palmOne warranty repair service. As some of you know, I've had a bad digitiser problem with my T3 for a long while, and I wasn't happy about sending it away in case I got a refurb in place of it.
Well, I sent it in the end. Was told 7-10 days for it to get back to me- it arrived back 7 days after they received it. AND it was MY PALM! No refurb. I had to stick a sticker on the back with my Serial Number on (the original one had rubbed off), and the sticker was still there perfectly stuck on, so it was definately the same Palm. But best of all, the digitiser problem was completely solved.
So kudos to palmOne UK repair.
The guy on the phone however told me something weird- he said the warranty was 2 years. Something to do with "EU legislation", and "all electical products now have to have a 2 year warranty, so don't let company's tell you your product is out of warranty after 1 year". This came up as I told him I was doing it before my 1 year warranty was up, and he was saying the warranty was valid for another year. That's a nice, believeable suprise; but when he said it was a general rule for all computer/electical products, I wasn't sure whether to believe him. I mean I have the argos catalogue, and if an electical product has a 2 year warranty, it's specifically noted as one of the products special features. If everything had a two year warranty, they wouldn't highlight a 2 year warranty as being something special, would they?
If anyone can shed any light on the subject, I'd be really interested to hear.
In the meantime, kudos to the repair centre and maybe even kudos the support guy
