sorry all but i have to rant about crickets phones. (keep in mind we take care of our phones like gold)

about a month ago my phones screen took a dump. it turned compleatly white, yes a bright white color on the whole screen, it would not go away. (this was all before i started to tweak the phone. basically it was out the box). so i went to the cricket store where i bought it, waited about 10 min before i was even greeted. after i told them what was wrong with the phone, i was told to go to another store, blaaaaaaa! i went to the other store, was greeted fast and told them the problem. there was something wrong with the phone internaly. they told me id have to pay for a replacement. i was in shock! (when i bought these phones i also got insurance. the woman who sold them to me didnt say anything about me paying for a replacement if anything went wrong with the phones. i got the insurance for peace of mind.) i had to pay 85 bucks for a used replacement. i was a bit upset. i went from a new to a used phone. whats the use for insurance anyway if i have to pay out of pocket??? anyway after arguing a bit, i ended up getting a used replacement for 85 bucks; or buy a new one for 200 bucks or no phone at all.

TODAY.... my wifes phone took a crap as well! she can not get pic msgs or download them no matter what the service reps said. she also can not edit any of her phones contacts. its a mystery! the service rep said to take the phone in to a cricket store. so i went in this morning, told them about the phones problems. there was something wrong internaly with the phone. i had to pay 45 bucks for a USED replacement!

heres what i dont get... one phone replacement cost 85 bucks. the other phone replacement cost 45 bucks. why the diffrence in money? same phones diffrent problems, but still? insurance is crap so far. i dont know why i even got it. we have only had these phones for 2 or 3 months. you pay full price for these phones and insurance, if something goes wrong with them they give you a hand-me-down phone and money out of pocket! BLAAAAA!

when i was with verizon if anything went wrong with any of our phones we got NEW phone replacements and nothing out of pocket. yeah yeah yeah, i know verizon is contracting people and cricket is not.

ok sorry again peeps, just had to get it out. i feel better now. :buddies:

i agree with u dude cricket's insurance does suck... but theres nooothing we can do about it :(
at least u have insurance! us flashed phone users dont even have insurance at all...but we get to have the best phones out right now!
: )

But remeraber there is a difference between warranty and insurance... Most phones comes with a year manufactuers warranty if there is a defect that is not caused by abuse. So know when to use insurance vs. warranty. :silly:

the corporate should do it under the warranty if it is covered, even if you try to file insurance claim.

also about the $45 for warranty swap, $10 of that is for shipping, $35 is a deposit in case the manufacture determines the phone is not covered by waranty. if it is covered the $35 is refunded on your bill, if it is not cricket keeps the $35. either way you keep the replacement hanRABet.

Remeraber one thing:

Verizon has you chained down in there lot with nothing you can do about it unless you pay 200.00 or more + your current and next month's bill.

-AND-

Verizon is a Muti-Kagillon-Billion-Million-Samanaphaphilion-dollar a year company. Cricket is too but no where *NEAR* the area of Verizon.

The other part with this is you *MUST* remeraber, Cricket makes there money on little charges like this. They sell you a phone near full price thats got little to no lockdown on it preventing you from hacking-modding etc, and give you minutes + data time for the lowest price they can. Verizon can afford to give you a new phone, nearly no questions asked right on the spot because your paying 10 times the price for minutes, and remeraber. 7 out of 10 times that you need to get a new phone and your in the middle of a contract, You either have to pay full price, Which is normally much higher then the full price at cricket or you'll be forced into another 2 year contract with them. So what i'm saying in a nutshell is:

When you go into the Verizon store to get a new phone, You've already paid for that phone via paying for your minutes every month.

The main reason I stopped using Cricket's phones is because of the insurance process. Why do I have to fill out a police report if I lost my phone, why do I have to go into a Cricket store and then call their insurance reps for a stupid nuraber? Just blacklist the phone and give me a new one!

I love the cheap plans though. No contract is a major plus for me.

These are the requirements for the insurance company. Remeraber Cricket is not an insurance company. Just like if your car is stolen you can't just go to the dealer and they give you a new one. You must file a claim with your insurance company, file a police report, wait for your insurance company to process the claim, and they usually won't pay you enough to buy a new car either. They'll give you the value of the car minus your deductible.

Also, Verizon uses the same company as Cricket for insurance. Verizon customers must also pay a deductible.

Yes. Cell phone insurance sucks. it is a horrible money sucking scam. The replacement phones often cost less than your deductible. but really how could they make it any better without people abusing it. they can't just give out free phones whenver you tell them to. What they really should do is just lower the monthly premiums since the deductible almost always fully covers the cost of the replacement phone. But oh well. Insurance companies and banks are scandalous, it's ridiculous the stuff they can get away with.

I think he was saying why do you have to fill out a police report for something you lost. Of course you would have to fill out a report on a car(you can't lose a car...) I think it is kinda stupid..."Hello police...yes I lost my cell phone and I need to make a police report...

:goodness:

the requirement is the same for all cell phone carriers, although to my knowledge if you tell assurion that you 'lost' the phone they don't ask for the police report
