Birthday tracker software?

Is there good software for the Palm to keep track of birthdays and link in to the calendar?

It's not just the actual date of birthdays - I'm hopeless at remembering the date of birth, so am constantly astonished to find that I'm giving a doll to a young woman who's now working for SAP as a systems analyst or something.

The enhanced PIM function of most of the later Palm allows for the user to actually put in the date the individual was born - not just an annual reminder.

DB6 and Agendus both will show you the "age" of this person using either Outlook or Palm Desktop to sync. The default Contacts will show you the date the person was born ie 7/11/1955 so you can do a quick calculation.

That said - most of the older Birthday tracking programs have therefore not been updated for use with the later devices. A quick search at PalmGear returned several applications but none of them being update since late 2004 so assuming your using a T3 or newer - these probably wouldn't be supported. If your using a T2 or older than run a search at PG and see what suits your fancy - I'd recommend something if I wasn't using the default PIM applications with Agendus.

What device are you using? PIM stands for Personal Information Manager which is the 4 basic functions of Datebook, Memos, Task, and Contacts. If you open the "contacts" function of your Palm and scroll down passed the zip code field for a specific address you'll see Birthday and Annivesary.

If your device doesn't show Contacts but shows Address Book instead - well then you are out of luck because it doesn't have the birthday option.

I went to the Contacts app and tried entering a birthday, but while the date and month are easy, I don't fancy tapping the year 60 times to get it to go back to the year of birth. Is there any way of just writing it in, or getting the year faster?

Nope - just hold down the tap and it will scroll through the years. Or perhaps try it on the desktop component you are using. This syncs with both Outlook and the Palm desktop - that might be faster.

BTW - Agendus will pick it up from the native databases so you could still use it without retyping anything - other then the initial date on either the PC or TX.

Try HappyDays by Jaemok Jeong. The latest version I have is 2.33 and it integrated nicely with the TX. It will track birthdays and any other Anniversary. Originating dates (birth dates) are entered into one of the custom field ... the display shows the name, the date of the next anniversary and the age. Sort function allows the output to be sorted on Name, date or anniversary date so you can easily see who's special day is coming up next. HappyDays is freeware!
