...please answer it serious,10 point? Compare and contrast the following pairs of terms\

1. Chromosomes and DNA
2. Cancer and tumors
3. Ausomes and gmetes
4. Independent assortment and crossing over
 
Chromosomes are the structures that contain genes. These genes are composed of DNA. So the chromosome is the house, and the DNA is the wood.

2. Cancerous cells divide without stopping and without control. Tumors are a group of cancerous cells that amass in tissue. Again with the house/wood analogy.

3. Autosomes are all the cells in your body EXCEPT sex cells. Sex cells are gametes (ie sperm and egg).

4. Independent assortment is the principle that all chromosomes assort independantly of each other. In other words, I can compare it to rolling dice. The outcome of one die is not dependent on the other die in any way. Crossing over is when there is a shuffling of genes during the prophase; small bits of genetic material is exchanged between sister chromatids.
