Biology homework lab?

YOU.

New member
I need help with my biology homework. My class was given out a sheet of paper with information in it and we're supposed to write out a lab using the info on the sheet. Here's what it says on the paper:

Supplies:
Hot Plate
Beaker
Test Tubes
Crackers
Apple juice
Lugol solution
Benedict's solution
Eye droppers

Background info:
To test for the presence of starch, you should put one drop of LUgol solution on the substance to be tested. Lugol solution turns black in the presence of starch (a polysaccharide).

To test for glucose, put 5mL of the substance to be tested in a test tube and add 10 drops of Benedict's solution. Then heat for 3-5 minutes. Benedict's solution turns orange in the presence of glucose (a monosaccharide).

Your job:
Conduct an experiment to determine if the enzyme amylase found in your saliva breaks starch down into glucose. Write a detailed step by step procedure describing how you will conduct your experiment.

--------
I don't know where to begin.
The only thing I have down is
1. heat up hot plate.
2. fill 300mL beaker w/ water halfway and bring to boil.
