Biology experiment on seeds... needing some help?

what i did was boiled some banksia seeds in hot water for a varied amount of time, (30 secs till hour sort of thing) to see if it makes them germinate quicker. what exactly will show if they do germinate? how long should i expect to wait before i see something and what will i see? right now they are just on dry/damp paper towel.

any information or suggestions welcome please
 
i dont know,but i think of you boil the seeds it wont show any results,because the chloroplasts are damaged by the strong heat supplied
