Billing Errors Continue

I just got my first bill today, and while it seemed high at first, I realized that it was actually 2 months combined.

There was also no bell.ca programming credit of $25 applied, and I also didn't see a $20 rebate for ordering the 9200 for 24 months. There was also a $2 charge for the magazine (which I have not received).

Now that the bad stuff is out of the way, it seems they forgot to charge me for my 9200 ($25) and 2 additional recievers ($2.50 each).

Does this stuff normally show up on the bill? I was planning to call and complain about my missing credits but without the 9200 charge, I think they actually under-charged me so I don't want to rock the boat in case they find out. Since the 9200 dosen't work anyways, I have no problem getting it for free :)

This has happened to me several times over the past six years with Bell. Send a complaint (online form) to the CRTC and believe me, it gets resolved in two weeks or less. The bill won't be correct for two months though...LOL

So if you pay them in full, and then they give you credits 6-8 weeks later, they have you money interest free for all that time. Mutilply it by the number of subcribers who are overpaying in the hopes of getting credits, and you can see that they will make a lot of money in interest with our money while it sits in their accounts. Even when promised credits I have not seen them 12 weeks later. You can bet that they can add a new service charge to your bill very quickly! I am really wondering if this is not a part of a scheme to milk money from unsuspecting customers rather than an innocent error. In any case, they are not in a hurry to fix things, which indicates a general distain for their customer base at the least.

Ordered BEV Oct 27, 2005

HDTV System - Model 6120 $10/month
4100 receiver - $2.50/month
Activation - $49.99

Promotion:
Rental credit: $240.00 => $10/month
Activation Credit: $49.99
Bell.ca online credit: $50

5 days later, HDTV programming promotion between Nov 1st to Dec 31st, 2005 was added on the Bell site. ($120.00 => $10/month for 12 months)

Call BEV on Nov 4th to make sure I will also get the HDTV programming credit.
The BEV CSR told me that I would qualify since I

After reading through this thread I have compiled a list of the rebates that are applied to me and will use that to ensure everything is taken care of. I just kind of assumed I would be charged what I signed up for, but apparently that is not the case. I'll be getting my first bill in a few weeks. :P

For the third month now BEV has missed giving me my rental credit of $10.00 and month. Each time I emailed them and I have subtracted the amount from my payment. They have promptly replied that I could rest assurred that they would correct it, but so far no luck. I can see that they will begin to get nasty about my non-payment of the overchanrges soon! What a mess they create!

i have to go to hockey now, but i will look up the info when i get home...i am quite sure there was an HD promo on, but i will need to verify the eligibility requirements for it...i will post later today with the details...hopefully that may provide some help.

i suggest everyone who isn't getting their rental credits properly escalate this issue to the executive office...this is obviously a serious problem and needs to be fixed yesterday.

I've rented a 6100 for six months now. It is supposed to be a free rental for 24 months. So far each month I get charged $20.00 for the rental of one 6100 and no credit is applied. I'm out $120 so far. Each month I call and the CSR assures me the problem will be fixed next month. How can one talk to someone who can actually do something about these errors?

I find this to be a breach of contract and will call to cancel soon. Why do we do this to ourselves? I have zero confidence that I'll get my money back!!! I think most of these billing errors are intentional. I wonder how many people out there don't check their bills closely enough and get ripped off by these guys?

DJ, you already did that for me in a previous thread I started about the problem:

http://www.digitalhomecanada.com/forum/showthread.php?t=36697

I posted this update here, as this thread seems to cover the broader issue of billing problems with Bell in general.

I appreciate your posting the information, and fully realize that the promotion was in place. Apparently Bell is denying that they ever did so, even saying they have 'never' had promotions on sold hardware - which is why I was looking for some actual evidence of the promotion.

I can even Google for the following:

+bell +"HD Value Pack"

And one of the first archived page links listed shows the following:

bell.ca - HDTV System - Model 6120
Get the HD Value Pack free for 6 months when you rent or buy the Model 6120* ... bell.ca Credit (1), $25.00. PPV Credit (2), $20.00. Total:, $75.00 ...

Unfortunately this doesn't show the date, but it directly refutes their claim that they have never had a promotion on hardware. The link this points to has of course long since been changed.

Yes, but have you received the next bill yet? I have been told that they have fixed the problem and then the next bill comes and its not fixed ... and when I call in again there is no record of the previous call ...

unfortunately, the people on the phone do not issue credits...it is handled by the billing department...i think that is why there is such a lag...in the case of other areas of Bell, the CSR has access to the billing system, so most mistakes (that involve a credit) can be applied instantly...i don't think that is the case with BEV...i believe they have to "request" a correction, which is then sent to another department.

Just opened my January bill and surprise surprise no credit, so called and asked to be put on with a supervisor...she said there is a note on there system from 12/29 saying that it had been credited but was not on my latest bill, let's see if they can finally keep there word...

Too bad there billing system wasn't as good as there product!
