Biking in the winter, with a recumbent trike: Viable? Tips?

I've used a conventional bike all my life. Haven't done much in the winter with it, but I have grown to detest conventional bikes.

I want to be able to ride something more comfortable, and during the winter. The roads get plowed and I can put a studded tire on, but beyond that is there anything I can do to make it better for winter use?

I've heard recumbent trikes are safer and more stable during the winter but harder to push through the snow (more friction due to third wheel and heavier design).

Is there anyone that does this? Is it doable/viable? Is it nothing more than letting my legs adjust, or are there any tips I should know to make riding a recumbent trike in the winter better?

I live in Ontario, Canada, so it's a proper winter. The farthest I ever need to go on a typical day from my place is 10-15 kilometres, so not very far.

Any information, advice or even just personal experience is greatly appreciated. I want to know how well I will be able to use the trike in the winter.
