Many of you have reviewed some of my Installation and modification posts and this is another one.
Just finished installing a Biketronics amp in my aftermarket fairing. Theres plenty on installing this amp in a standard Harley fairing. But this is for the aftermarket fairings.
My fairing has to be removed from the bike to be disassembled,Due to one screw on the underside just above the headlight, no big deal. Unplug the power harness and lift it off. Make sure you have something soft to sit it on. I use and old blanket.
Fairing off and open. First thing to do it determine where your going to put the amp. This may be a chore, aftermarket fairings seem smaller than original equipment. Best place for mine is was right on top of the stereo.
I put it where I think it will go and zip tied it in place. Now stop!!!!
Put the front of the fairing back on and and check for any clearance problems. make sure all screw holes line up. Peak in the windshield slot with a flash light, tap on the area where the amp is, if it sounds solid you may have a problem. My location was good. Open the fairing up and mark the location, cut the tie strap and get ready to install the amp.
Two strips of sticky tape isn't going to do it for me. I removed the double sided tape and covered the bottom of the amp with heavy duty velcro. Put the other side in position of the radio and placed the amp.
The amp is now in place, but not secure enough for me. I used a troll motor strap,(which is a nylon strap with a hoop on one end and velco. Used to keep trolling motor on bass boats strapped down while the boat is running) I wrapped this strap all the way around the radio and amp and locked it down. heavy duty tie straps could be used but I had the strap and used it.
Now for the wiring, using the provided instructions hook everything up. Don't worry about making it pretty, yet.
Two sets of speaker wires, power, ground and amp turn on. Now set it on the bike plug in the power harness and make sure it works.
Now, neatin up your wiring, tie wrap where needed and make sure theres no place any wires may rub on something. Make It pretty.
This is all pretty basic but
Now, put it all back togeather and enjoy.
