well umang unfortunately u r living in a country where there are not many choices that we have here. to start with we don't even have the entry level bikes that are use to teach people motorcycle riding in other good country like USA etc i.e. 250cc bikes like the only and recently launched but hopelessly serviced kawasaki ninja 250r by bajaj(hopeless company, typical indian).
So actually speaking no bike deserves or is in the range u mentioned above. but ya I'll tell. we have
1) Yamaha R15 - 150cc, 17bhp of power, 15 Nm of torque, 6 gears, extremely lightweight 131 kgs, good mileage, fuel injection DIASil, deltabox frame, liquid cooling, fastest and best bike in the 150cc range which goes toe to toe with the 220 cc bikes.
pros - lightweight, good top speed, good mileage for a performance bike due to Fi, best looking bike in india(leaving apart the superbikes ofcourse), reliable company, best tyre grip in india even though they may appear puny but are MRF tubeless, liquid cooling just to write a few
cons - low end torque should have been more, tyres could have been fatter, rear end looks could have been better compared to front.
2) Hero Honda Karizma ZMR - 223cc, 17.6bhp of power, 18.35 Nm torque, 5 gears, 159kg heavy monster, good torque.
pros - seating position comfortable, good low end torque, looks good but not as good as R15, 223cc, good instrument cluster
cons - only 17.6 bhp from 223cc - hopeless, road grip is not that good, no liquid cooling, poor top speed from 223cc, poor mileage but then again 223cc will drink.
Well, Suzuki does not have any sporty bike as such in that range or in this segment. there is a suzuki GS 150R but that's nto to compare with the above 2. there are some more bike too like fazer, fz16, fzs. but R15 is the best among these.
ZMR and R15 both cost around the same around 1.05 lakhs, on road price depends on the city you live in. well its your shoice whether you go for ZMR bigger engine but no use of that, a proven tourer though, comfortable but costly for what it is. or R15- puny engine but screams like hell, a true racing bike. well R15 easily defeats ZMR in many aspects but I too think it should have been either little less costly or atleast 180 or 200 cc engine should have been there so as to cover up for the lack of low end torque. other than that it's the best. there are many reviews all over the internet. go to autos.maxabout.com -you get all the details of all bikes there are in india.
Just -- I am going to buy a R15 soon, would have got it earlier but my father... so.... get it...
