Bike Cover Or Not?

My bike will be hibernating in my garage for the entire winter (November-April), with some occasional start-ups when the weather allows.

Aside from looking sexy in the garage, keeping dust from accumulating, and preventing debris from scratching it while traveling in my truck, what other uses are there?

Is it a good investment or just a waste of money?

Thoughts? Bueller?

Why wouldn't you? You don't need the expensive Ducati one just go to Auto Zone and buy a generic one for $15-$20. It will keep the bike nice and clean so you don't have to wash it as often and more importantly it will prevent people from knowing what kind of bike is parked in the garage if they drive by your opened garage door. Of course if you buy the one that says Ducati all over it they will know that your house is the one with the expensive bike parked in the garage.

I don't cover mine. I put the front in a baxley chock with the lock engaged and the rear up on the pitbull stand, on the Ducati rug. Hot water bathe it once a week during the winter, and touch the polish up once a month. Gives me "man-cave" time and fonder appreciation for spring

When I lived in Fairbanks back in the days (96-00) I kept my old Yamaha YZF-600 in my barracks room, on stands. 1SG tried nuking me once for it, but every year I would purge the tank, drain the oil (after cycling in some synthetic mix with marvels mystery oil) and coolant. I had a buddy from the Fire Dept inspect and sign a purged tag, so no issues after that.

If my bike isn't on the road or isn't cooling down just after a ride, it's always garaged and covered. I don't really cover it to protect if from dust. I'm more concerned about accidentally rubbing something against it when I'm working in the garage. I've found it to be cheap "insurance" against what could be an expensive "oops."
