Biggest Oscar mistakes

Zodiac is flaming great, stand by for another Oscar mistake when it doesn't even get a nominiation - and it flaming well should, plus Robert Downey Jnr should get one for Paul Avery, but bet he doesn't  (and I'm not speaking to the BAFTAs at the moment for completely ignoring Zodiac as well )

OMG OMG OMG - how true is that!
I will never forget hearing the result as I was washing my hair early one morning - I was gobsmacked - that is the worst travesty ever - its also my drunken rant when I've had a few at dinner parties! x

Echo PANNAL1 - would have liked Queen Latifah to have won that year. BUT it was a strong category as although as I have said before, CTZ was bloomin' good as Velma Kelly

Recent:

Josh Brolin not being nominated for either American Gangster or No Country for Old Men.

Ben Foster not being nominated for 3:10 to Yuma. He was excellent.

Ok, I have said this before, and I can repeat it.

I love Titanic. I thibnk it's one of the best movies ever made. Very close to my top 5, and the only film less than 15 years old to do just that.

The music, the acting, the colours...
The story itself which everyone knows. Gloria Stuart.

The acting from Kathy Bates and Frances Fisher. All the other small stories we got to see, like the elderly couple who knew they were goping to die, but still seemes happy, since they had each other.

An amazing movie. IMO...

Helen Hunt shouldn't have won for As Good As It Gets. Judi Dench should have won. Helen knew it as well - she said as much in her acceptance speech.

Jeff Bridges should have won for The Contender, instead of Benicio Del Toro, for Traffic.

Jim Carrey should have been nominated for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

Tom Hanks (Philadelphia) beating Liam Neeson(Schindlers List) in the early 90s.

Hanks was good but Neeson was outstanding as Oscar Schindler and deserved to win.

Andy Serkis not being nominated and winning for Smeagol/Gollum. Their reasoning was BS, considering he did appear on screen in non-cgi form at one point.

I absolutely love that film...haven't seen it for years. Richard Harris gave an outstanding performance.

Going back to the subject of 'Crash', I'm sure that 20 years ago this film wouldn't even have been considered for a nomination. Just a sign of how poor the (mainstream) film industry has become. It's a dreadful film. Contrived and cringeworthy.
