Biggest Disappointment.

Totally agree! That film was bad! I thought I must have seen a different film to the one that everyone was saying was supposedly so good!

Also Jurassic Park & American Beauty - talk about over hyped for no reason!

The Machinist. I was really looking forward to this, having been a big fan of Session 9. But this film was teriible - manipulative in all the wrong ways and I was left feeling cheated by the fact that all the twists and turns let to an unrewarding conclusion. Bale might have put himself through hell for this part but it really wasnt worth the effort.

Others - I hated Y Tu Mama Tambien but had been expecting to love it.

also...

The Salem's Lot remake - such a wasted opportunity.

I was a bit upset by the film White Noise. I thought it was going to be really scary like Poltergiest. But it wasnt, i did thought it was scary but not scary scary you know what i mean? like exorcist scary or poltergiest scary. I felt like this was a bit like The Mothman film and Signs in a way, horror thriller movies seems to be the same in a way these days dont they?.

Just watched Alone in the Dark.

Really disappointed in this. Why is it they cant seem to stick to the original plot??

I like Christian Slater, but he was poo in this one.

I should have learned from watching Res Evil that films made from games are crap!!

Best to stick to the game :D (I enjoyed playing AITD)

I thought he was pretty good in it, he certainly suffered for his art. I quite liked a lot of it but at a point near the end, which I won't go into in case it spoils it for folks, it was like.. "oh, that's what it means, right.." Disappointing.

I much preferred Hero to Flying Daggers. Thought Daggers started off really well and then the whole pacing just gets in a massive drag and never recovers and its all just style. I haven't seen KFH yet but was looking forward to it.. damn!

Duece Bigalo 2 was absolute rubbish and a huge disappointment, as I loved the first one and was looking forward to it and it just had a rubbish storyline and hardly any laughs in it. Just awful!

I was also hugely disappointed in the end of Pirates of the Caribbean 2. The film was great, but I was so annoyed at the end, I hate all the cliff hanger rubbish, especially on such a long film.

Oh, I prefer Hero to. It's just stunning, whereas Daggers is just a very good film to me.

Just can't see it as a dissapointment.

I can see why the end of TM can be a dissapointment, but it's worth watching for the great acting throughout, especially Bale.

both Matrix sequels
Blade Trinity
White Noise
Jeepers Creepers
basically any movie that claims to be "the scariest ever ever ever!!!".... lies

I've seen a few people saying they were disappointed by Alien Vs Predator, and while I agree in principle being a big fan of the games and graphic novels, I thought it was ok for what it was... a silly action movie with lots of silly action... no matter what you do with them, the aliens and predators will always be cool..

however, I do think the director should be shot for using that stupid slow motion MTV style shooting... unforgivable! I think this is a franchise they should stop making movies in, and leave to the games developers.. I'm still waiting on AvP3, if it'll ever happen :(

Aaaah see I liked that one, because noone I knew had seen it and so I was able to watch it in peace and with a completely open mind!

So the hype thing really makes a difference!

Basically, if you want to see a good film, go out and buy one you've only heard mentioned once, or one that your favourite actor is in that you havent seen or heard about.

Basically find one that hasn't been judged for you yet, then you're more likely to be pleasantly surprised!

P.S. Didn't like Napoleon Dynamite at all, either.

Yes! Agreed!

For me, what made the first film great was that it started off in the 'real world' and Neo was slowly introduced to this incredible fantasy world in a way that made it seem real too because we were seeing it from the perspective of a normal person.

But in the sequels, Neo is no longer a normal person, he loses almost every trace of his humanity and goes around wearing shades and flying and shows very little emotion or reaction to the incredible things going on around him.

In a nutshell, the 2nd and 3rd Matrix films lack humanity. Which is exactly the same problem that Star Wars episode 1 (and to some extend 2) suffered from. There was no one that you could identify with and put yourself into their shoes. Whereas Luke Skywalker of the original Star Wars film was the most 'human' character you could ever get, and was the perfect character to use to introduce us to the world of the Jedi.

Collateral...The most boring, slow-moving waste of time I've ever seen...completely overated, which was probably why I went into the cinema expecting great things. I remember the opening was really stunning, and the music was pretty much perfectly used but things soon went downhill from there, needless to say I walked out after what seemed like 5 days.

The Matrix and pretty much any sci-fi film that aims to be some kind of religion - Star Wars included - soon get too big for their boots after film buRAB make them out to be masterpieces. Yes, the effects are good and some of the ideas are pretty wacky but aside from that, they tend to fall short of all the hype.

I have to agree. I rented this on DVD because Jodie Foster films are always good. Well, they used to be.

Oddly enough, I hated it the first time I saw it. There was nothing else on TV one night and it was on cable so I gave it a second chance and loved it.

Maybe I should give Solaris another shot one of these days. I thought that was truly dreadful.

Having seen and loved Signs, The Sixth Sense and The Village, I thought I'd appreciate Unbreakable, but I just didn't get it. I spent most of my time watching it wondering why Samuel L Jackson was in such drivel.

Memento was a disappointment to me too, but I appreciated how well made it was. I could see how hubby would love it, and he did, but it just didn't quite flick the right "must watch again" switches for me somehow.
