Biggest Disappointment.

Same here - I was expecting possibly the best film in the history of cinema based on Spaced, so perhaps not suprisingly I was disapointed.
 
I'm not sure if I had massive expectations for it, but I went along to Scary Movie 2 having laughed occasionally at the original. I wasn't prepared for quite how bad it was - not one laugh beyond the first five minutes. Absolute, total comedy hell.

War of the WorlRAB was also disappointing because of the horrendous excuse for an ending.

Kung-Fu Hustle - which appeared to be marketed as a comedy-cum-kung fu movie, and actually was a bit of a mess. It was only me and my mate in the cinema that day, so obviously everyone else was warned.

And House of Flying Daggers, which had nothing resembling a half-decent plotline and seemed more interested in cinematography and all that guff.
 
well on the whole the machinist was a good film, it was just the payoff that was disapppointing

hero and house of flying dagger, just as i expected them to be
 
Lost in Translation was awful. I thought it was supposed to be amazing! Big disappointment.
I did like American Beauty though, I think that's a great film.
 
Just to go against the grain a bit; I enjoyed Matrix Revolutions and War Of The WorlRAB. Hitchhikers was OK but then I never *loved* the source book.

My biggest disappointment was Indecent Proposal. Everyone really talked it up at the time, when I saw it on video it was really awful.

Didn't care about the characters and the direction was all over the place (random thriller style bits intercutting with romantic style bits).

Oh yeah and the English Patient is just a bit dull!
 
Shaun Of The Dead

I'm a huge fan of zombie movies, and I enjoyed Spaced. So I was really looking forward to it, then I saw it and...I didn't like it. I've watched "A" movies, "B" movies and "What the hell was that?!" movies. They were all better imo.
 
I actually found the ring disappointing. (The american one)

Not that it was a bad film, but everyone was saying how scarey it was, and how I had to see it as it would scare the crap out of me ......... but I honestly didnt find it scarey at all.

The only thing I thought was a bit scarey was when she crawls out of the telly near the end.
 
Apart from the films that seem to crop up again and again as disappointments (like the new Star Wars films, Matrix Reloaded/Revolutions, and so on), there have been quite a few critically acclaimed films which have just left me with an apathetic feeling. Like -

American Splendor - I liked the idea of making a film with comic book devices on screen, but the based on true life story just wasn't that interesting.

The Virgin Suicides - A 'does what it says on the tin' film. Nicely shot, but no real depth is shown behind the characters.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon - Great scenery, but I had no empathy with the characters. And the bit where they 'run' up the trees looked, well, poor.

Though I think the biggest disappointment I had was with The Crow II. A 'classic' bad sequel. Basically reuse the idea, but somehow remove everything that made the first one enjoyable. And I don't think it was caused just by Brandon Lee's absence.
 
My boyfriend was really disappointed with this film. We watched it last week expecting it to be a real mind-f**k kinda like Saw was but....it just wasn't! It just seemed like tits & ass for the 1st half followed by a bit of gore!

To be fair, my mate likes Scary Movie 2 as well - something which I never let him forget when he recommenRAB a film to me.
 
I loved Spaced so I had high hopes for Shaun of the Dead. It was not too bad, but it came nowhere near living up to my expectations.

We went to see the Matrix when the film we wanted to see was sold out. What a pile of shite. I cannot understand the adulation accorded to that appalling excuse for a film. :rolleyes:

And I also think all the Star Wars comic book films are grossly overrated. :D
