Bigger tank. Shorter arms?

I purchased my 4th HD, a new 2008 Ultra Classic. I was riding a 2005 Electra Glide before and the grips felt really good with a good bend in my arms. This new 2008 is stretching me out to where my arms are almost straight. Has anyone changed out their bars on a new 08?

I need to change mine out as well for the exact same reason. I hear conflicting reports about the availability/cost of a longer brake line for the ABS, though. I want to put the Wild1's on my '08, but the brake line issue is making me leary.

Hopefully, someone with some concrete information will respond here.

Part number 650-08715 picture number E1 should do what you want and I have attached the electric throttle instructions.

Subject: Handlebar question
Good Morning. I own a 2008 Ultra Classic with factory bars. I guess the new 6 gallon gas tank has pushed the seat back a bit because my arms are almost extended when in a good seated position. I didn’t have this issue with my 2005 Electra Glide Classic. I would like to have my grips about 1.5” to 2” closer to me so that my arms are not almost straight. I would also like to change out my handle bars without having to change out any brake lines or cables.

Which bar, if any, would you recommend me purchasing?

Thanks,
Jimmy

I recently traded an 06 Ultra in on an 08 Ultra. I noticed right away that I am sitting back farther. I measured the difference in the 06 and the 08 and found the "back" of the rider's area is 1 1/2 farther back. I use a back rest and am thinking of making a spacer to put on the back rest to push me forward the inch and a half. I am short enough that my elbows are straight. I don't want to get the new bars just to get back where I need to be. I have already pulled the stock bars as far back as I can get them, any more and they just pivot down instead of back.

Guys check out this site,www.hdbikeparts.com they have everything you need to do the job yourself. I haven't done it yet because of cost but will be doing the same with the 2in pullback bars.

Did you have to remove the inner fairing? I thought about just losening the front two handlebar bolts and rotate mine down. I couldnt get an allen wrench in there after removing the locking assembly and switch cover.
