Big guy lookin to ride

I'm 6'6 280 and ride the M50, it is technically my first bike (first was a 90 VX800, only rode it a couple months). For my size it rides greats, I have no problem with knee clearance with the handlebars. This would be a great first/learning bike. hope that helps.

i'm 6'3" and 350 & i have been riding a m50 for about 2 weeks now. This is my first bike and i think it makes a great starter bike. i found the straighter handle bars much more comfortable for my size (no knee clearance problems). at my size it is a little lacking for power but being a new rider i preferred a bike that wasn't going to get away from me. after 6 months to a year on this one i think i will want to move up to 1600. i bought my m50 used on craigslist for less than $4k.

Thanks for all the input. I'm still looking around. Trying to find a good fit something thats comfortable.

Of the 3 dealers I've been to, only 1 had 50s (C or M.) I'm becoming more and more fond of the Kawaski Vulcan 900 Custom too.

Guess I took the first official step, bought a helmet, GMax 68S Crusader.

Oh, well you've done it now. Can't talk yourself out of it, or you'll look stupid driving a car around wearing a helmet you've never used on a bike. ;)

Post pics of the new ride when you decide and get one.

Hello all,

I too am looking at getting a c50, c50t actually. I am 6'3" and 250 lbs. I have noticed that on the c50t's that the handle bars are lifted a little and I get a real good clearance over my knees, where on the c50's, the handle bars (grips) hit my legs when turning them. I know that the c50's and c50t's are the same, but I have noticed this on all of the different ones I have sat on. This is also true for the c90's as well. I suppose it is due to the addition of the windsheild, but am not sure. Any input? I like the feel of the c50t's better, if not only for this reason.

The main difference between the vulcan and the c50's is the belt vs shaft driven. That and personal taste, and maybe 90 cc's.

I have not posted in new members area, am really trying to find "the bike." They do not have any c50t's here right now. Might have to wait for the 09's. I think due to gas, insurance, and cycle cost, the c50's are being swooped up over the c90's or other biger bikes. I wish I could find that person who is moving up from the c50 to the c90 or c109 around here.
