Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot on Hulu

The Panda Man

Just added and my nostalgia is on overdrive. Quite a little gem of the late 90's about an Astro Boy-like boy robot who wants to grow up to be like his idol, Big Guy, who is actually a soldier piloting a robot. The show was well written and appealed to both kids and adults. It also had the most corniest, yet at the same time awesome one liners and puns from the Big Guy such as "Candy-gram" as he bombs aliens and monsters.

Ah, do not forget that through Crackle, it's available legally on Youtube as well.

I totally missed this show when it was on. Very smart, very endearing, and yes very corny at the same time. Initially that turned me off, but the more I watched it, the more I was realized that the corniness was done on purpose. It's such a dynamic contrast between the boisterous Big Guy and his soft spoken alter ego.

Allow me to add to the discussion while we're at it: Boy and his robot angle.

What happens when boy grows up and cute kid and his robo buddy become capable-bodied/minded man and machine?

Is that when the real fun begins? ;)

Really great show and I was elated to see it added on Hulu. This was one I'd been periodically sending requests to Shout! Factory to get the distribution rights for. It's a gem of an animated series that needs more exposure.
