Ok...this questions is for the knee experts....for people who don't have knee problem and are midle aged, does bicycling cause knees to get worned off and later require knee replacement .....I have heard mixed opinions and hope to get the facts....

No, not at all. Cycling is a low impact sport and is a highly recommended activity for people with knee problems. Cycling will not injure knees. Swimming is also a low impact sport that is great for knees.

Hey -

I just had a knee reconstruction. Basically any kind of activity that has high impact like running, netball, soccer and football puts alot of stress on your knees. Things like swimming, pilates, cycling etc on the other hand are good.

After my operation, cycling was the one thing I was allowed to do immediately. Cycling builds up your quadriceps which help protect you from injuring your knee.

Unless you plan on not moving your legs - the cartliage etc will wear down regardless - it's just part of old age.
