If their is no bicycle rack around how can you lock up your bicycle to protect it in a public place?

You could tie it to a lamp post, or small tree. If all else fails you could loop the bike lock through the chassis of the bike and the tire to keep someone from riding away with it.

Generally there's going to be some type of post or handlebar lying around in public areas. Just be careful about leaving it attached to anything that isn't nailed down--or putting the chain around a part of the bicycle where it can just be slipped off.

Lock it to a pole or to a tree. The pole has to be attached to something at the top too so they don't just lift it off the pole.

Find something to attach it to, like a chair or a post. There is always something that you can attach it to.
