Perhaps Galatea didn't see it as harm as Portia was dying already.
Although you have a valid point there.

However - remember that by the time Andrew and Portia died. robots had been going for over two thousand years and those first simple basic three laws had proved to be unsatisfactory in lots of ways.

There had been many subtle alterations and additions to the 3 laws as robots got more sophisticated.

A "nurse" robot would no-doubt have specials modifications built in for allowing a terminally ill patient to die at her own request if her life couldn't be saved and if it saved any suffering.

I'm only guessing - but, if you look again at your Wikipedia link you will see quite a long section on subsequent alterations to the three laws.
 
To tell you the truth - so did I.;)
But because of the original question to this thread I assumed I had missed something and made a mistake. If she WAS a human being after all, then the original question isn't relevant.
Does anyone know?

The nurse who turns off Portia's life support is referred to by portia as Galatea.

Kiersten Warren is credited as Galatea/robot in human form.
 
It's one of those movies that make you think about life. Shame it gets panned all the time. This and A.I. where great films with endings that make me crying like a baby all the time.
