Does anyone take baking soda for reflux? It's an old-fashioned remedy that I used to take years ago and take it occasionally now since nothing seems to be working for me. Is it harmful?
Ruth: I've no idea of the long term effects, but my father in law has terrible heartburn and he will occasionally drink some baking soda in a glass. I have done this about once and I can't recall it really making a huge difference good or bad but that was just once.
Hi, Ruth 3. My Dad always took this remedy with great success when he needed relief. He would mix a teaspoon in a glass of water and drink it. Personally...I've tried this and it really really works...and nearly instantly for me!
Couple considerations I can think of is that if you have high blood pressure, remeraber that baking soda has lots of salt. Dosage is usually 1/2-1 tsp in a glass of H2O.
