I think hes bein really dumb. I tried to tell him the fines could be crazy, but he doesnt care or think he'll be caught. I kind of agree with his philosophy that they are "god's fish" but i also see the purpose in it. I really like to fish, but should i just not go with him if he isnt going to get one.. and would i be liable if im fishing w him and the DNR finds that he doesnt have a license?

We live in indiana

You may want to inform him about things called HATCHERIES that the Wildlife Department run. If they are "God's fish" then why aren't they all from nature? Oh yeah because if they were then we'd run out of fish. So they provide extra fish for the fisherman. God's fish are there for God's animals that roam God's forests. They need to eat too.

The only one at risk of a fine is the one without a license. Unless the one without is a minor then the adult is.

He is an adult and they will hold him resposible for his actions, it is their job to check for the proper licenses not yours.

I hunt with a guy that does the same thing and for the same reasons. I can't say that I wouldn't join him on going sans license but I have a life time fishing and hunting license becuase I am a disabled vet

I do have to say they might be god's fish according to him (basically no one owns them) but wildlife Deptarments spend a lot of money checking on the health of the wildlife, the quality of the water and managing the harvesting of the game and fish so that there are some when we come back out the next time and if we all took his point of view two things could happen 1) the Wildlife Depts would still have to function and not recieve any money into their budget so taxes would have to be raised costing everyone more money 2) the wildlife depts would have to be abandoned and you would have idiots netting pond fish until they are gone, people killing 30 deer a year, shooting stuff out of season and then the game would suffer the same as the buffalo did.

Don't fall for it when he hands you the rod and says "hold this for a minute"

If you have a license you will be fine. Taking gods fish without a fishing license is fine if the pond happens to be on your own land. If you are using public lands and waters over which the legislature has given authority to DNR, then you are right and the fines are hefty
