BEV: Signal Outages - Fri. 13th. Sun. 15th - Due to Storms in Toronto

Have signals again but no hd channels. They aren't even listed in the guide. Any one else?

DishNet is in Wyoming and Arizona, DirecTV is in Colorado and California.
Both have over 16 Million subscribers. Normally they uplink diferent services from the 2 sites, not hot standby. It would take hours to move major services to one site if the other went away.

Bell with 1.5 Million subs, will never-ever be able to afford 2 uplink sites.

I didn't notice any outage, I was playing back PVR'd material. :)

1:58 PM: Weather conditions bad in Toronto again (from source) may cause temporary signal loss / pixelation

Check out the radar... more rain is coming.

Here in Mississauga looking over towards Milton right now the sky is turning black!

I got almost 30 mm of rain in under an hour on my weather station. For a few minutes, the rain was coming down at 1 mm per minute.

The lighting was about 1 bolt per second for several minutes, with slightly less lightning for almost an hour. There was something similar a few days ago around 1AM, but it wasn't as sustained as this. What a show! My wife and I turned all the lights out in the house and watched the show for about 1/2 hour. Wind wasn't too bad at our street with a max measurement of 45 kph at 10PM

It`s pouring again in Toronto (1:25 AM) and will cause possible signal loss at the source again!

This is one thing I hate about ku-band, dark clouds just coming here in Montreal, not sure if we will get the storm like in T. did, not a big deal though I have C-band :) if we get the storm I'm sure even my big dish and my 1.1 meter Patriot will lose ku programming.

Down here in BC as well. I think the shuttle knocked down the Bell satellites with the Canadian arm! OK, it was just a thunderstorm.
