BEV Price Increase...

Guess Evu has forgotten me......no letter advising of the price increase. One of the disadvantages of on-line bill paying with Bell you miss out on the notices......not too often are they on line. Not very worried about the extra three bucks but would like a little more choice in selecting channels.

Have you heard anything about MPEG4 in the coming year? Will there be a hardware swap for this? By chance, will this be the use of the new SAT (Nimiq 3)?

For the quality of service and hardware, in my mind ANY increase is too much. They should be providing us with QoS reimbursements.

Very good posts guys DJ and SP, that is what drives people to BEV, wether it is back from StarChoice or from Rogers or Shaw etc. It is their commitment to HD and to be the leader in it in Canada. Even with all of the customer service faults and compliants, the have the best programing and a more reliable PVR than most other providers(IMHO). That is why they thrive and prosper in numbers of subs. Profit is another matter, and left for another poster...lol

These price increases are too much at once. What this latest increase will do is wake people up (like me) and make them look at what they are subscribing to. I watch maybe 10% of the channels that I pay for. I will be cutting back big time next year.

The policy has alway been in effect (at least 4-5 year) dirtyjeffer, but has never been consistantly enforced.

I transfered a receiver to my dad and later back to my self again in 2002, and was susposed to have to pay $50 (I believe it was $35 then) each time but was never charged.

all of the above, along with the increasing costs of aquiring new business, increasing costs associated with the business itself (staffing, channels licenses, etc).

Rogers prices are higher to begin with (from my recent checks) and the packages are less flexible. Rogers consistently has more price increases than BEV.

I am happy to sign up with BEV again after a month of "nothing" (wife has old BEV contract) and some soul searching to determine that I needed TV, and BEV won again.

So if I created my own package and not using an All-In-One am I safe or are my rates going up too?

suspension still costs $10-$15 per month, and you can't watch anything...you are almost better off dropping it to the bare minimum just in case you want something on your TV.

then perhaps they are no longer going to waive the fee...there was a communication that came out a few months clearly stating the fees involved in activating old hardware.

If you are already an exsisting customer , you won't be effected by the new increased rates, unless you decrease one of your packages on or before Feb 1 2007

our contract with Bell expressview is finished in October, then i guess we will go back to cable tv....... I don't want to but I'm not paying the new rates plus we will have to pay for each reciever we have in this home..

I'd expect BEV (and any other satellite TV provider) to have a really hard time to penetrate IPTV fibre market on the ground.
And I don't think it is their goal.

Diogen.

first of all, the pricing is still competitive with cable, so for people to simply state "I'm going to cable when my contract is up", makes no sense...cable has regular rate increases too...and what do you mean you will have to pay for each receiver in your house?...there are no extra receiver fees with these packages, and if you are currently renting several receivers already, nothing changes.

The base price to start from is going up to $31. So, everyone gets the increase.

That's why I bought the 9200, signed up as a new customer, locked in for two years. Yes, they have me for two years, but I will not see the increase as long as I don't change my programming.

I think the fee is only applied for activating receivers for a new customer. So if an existing customer wants to add a receiver, there is no charge. However, if someone were to cancel their service for several months, they might be treated as a new customer and have the activation fee applied.

IPTV actually falls under the BELL Canada umbrella and not BEV.
BEV is not actively persuing this avenue of TV provisioning.
Makes sense that it falls under the BELL Can. name as they are the ones responsible for providing the fttn.

Nem, who is just clarifying a few things.

Can anyone else confirm this increase? I am an ExpressVu subscriber, no longer on contract (I think), and I have not received any notice of this increase. I thought that they usually send letters a few months in advance advising of increases.

Since when did ExpressVu charge for each receiver?

The notice I got did not mention this. It only mentioned a monthly increase.
