In case you did not or don't receive the notice in the mail, Bell ExpressVu is ending subscriptions to Movie Entertainment Magazine with the September issue being the last.

If you are still interested in a subscription to Movie Entertainment Magazine, you can subscribe directly by calling 1-866-332-8878. Subscriptions cost $24 annually.

Disclaimer: I don't work for Movie Entertainment Magazine. I just prefer it to anything Bell offers when it comes to getting info on what's playing on The Movie Networks and thought others might as well.

This goes hand-in-hand with EV forcing subs to take their own magazine. At least my bill will go down $1.

I have been trying to find a complete TMN listing but I am not finding anything. I found a listing of the HD channel which is nice, but what I would really like is basically a soft copy version of the list of movies that is in the magazine. Is this available online anywhere???

Doesn't the ALL-IN-ONE packages include that magazine?? If so, will they reduce the price accordingly??? (please don't flame me on the price thing; if they aren't providing it, why pay for it!) ANd I'm new to all this (getting my HD this weekend), so if I am mistaken, please forgive me altogether!

http://www.tmn.ca is the movie network website with listings.
http://www.zap2it.com is an online tv guide. just enter your postal code and your provider (EV) and you can get listings. Currently you can go as far out as Monday Aug 21

hmm, yeah I have been to the TMN site but there is no complete listing (that I can find). It shows all the movies in a list by a particular letter but nothing to show all. Basically I am looking for a printer friendly list of all the movies they offer.

On Rogers the price went from $1/mo to $2/mo recently, but it is included (free) in Rogers VIP with Movies packages, so it sounds as though BEV is following Rogers on this...

Mine goes straight into the recycling. I think it was forced upon me when I switched to the current packages a few months back as I never recieved it before and would have preferred to keep it that way. I certainly wouldn't pay $4.50 a month for it, I find that it has no value at all.

I didn't realize this was available separately. Thanks for posting!:D

There's no way I'd pay for Vu magazine and as for whatever the hell that freebie is called (Bell something), it goes straight into the recylcing box. Useless crap!

I quote directly from the letter I received:

"Why is Movie Entertainment Magazine no longer being offered?
Movie Entertainment Magazine is no longer being offered to reduce and simplify the number of communications being sent to you. By offering you Bell TV Magazine, you will receive behind the scenes news on celebrities, artists and sports stars. Plus, program highlights, daily picks and monthly features all in one great magazine."

So they are reducing the the number of communications to me by sending me basically the same magazine with a different name on the cover how? I guess what they mean is they will no longer have to stuff envelopes with sales blurbs.(yeah right). I'll also leave it to the English majors to dissect the sentence structure of the above paragraph as it doesn't quite scan correctly to me.

i don't think you are talking about the same magazine...i believe you are talking about Bell TV magazine...Vu magazine is basically a TV Guide for EVERY program on BEV for the entire month on EVERY channel.

So it sounds like ALL the providers have made changes to the Movie Entertainment magazine.

Star Choice is now making it an "optional" service and charging an extra $1 per month to keep it.

I found the $4.50 Vu Magazine to be totally useless, it was too inaccurate. Many of the start times were completely wrong or shows that were listed in the guide just didn't play when they it said they would.

I think I'll give the zap2it.com web site another try. I wasn't impressed with it the first time I tried it. Ultimately though, I'd prefer something I can browse while I'm lying on the couch.

thanks Gino...i guess i could go the corner store and buy one magazine to see if it's worth getting, but it doesn't sound like it from what you have said...i always wondered how accurate a magazine with an entire month's programming could be accurate.

Movie Entertainment Magazine, for those of you who've never seen it, has the complete monthly listings of everything that is playing on The Movie Network, including, M More, MX Excess, M Fun, M Fest, M Pix and M Escape. It also includes complete descriptions of all the programs in addition to entertainment news. It was offered for only $1 per month, half the regular subscription price of $2 per month.

Bell TV Magazine which includes Entertainment News and general news about Bell ExpressVu offers very little in the way of actual listings. If offers daily picks, comprised of about 7-8 program descriptions and 4 suggested titles in 3 categories, Movies, Television and Sports from all the available channels. This magazine cost $2 per month.

These are completely different publications and there is absolutely no overlap in the information they offer. Bell's rationale of "simplifying the numbers of communications" is completely without merit.

Has anyone signed up for a subscription and received their October issue?

I sent the card that came with the September issue but haven't heard anything back yet.

Wondering if I need to follow up or take a pill.

I had a lot of problems with Movie Entertainment Magazine about a year ago. It would arrive late or not at all. This resulted in calls to EV since the magazine would not take care of the problem directly. This is probably the "communications" EV is referring to. It looks like EV is dropping the magazine to cut support costs. Ironically, this move comes at a time when Movie Entertainment Magazine appears to have solved their subscription delivery problems (or was it EV's delivery problems?...more likely.) At any rate, it is just another hidden fee increase. Looks like the bean counters at EV are working overtime looking for ways to screw their customers...I mean cut costs.

BTW, Movie Entertainment Magazine has been an extra cost item with *C and Rogers for years. It may not be itemized, but Rogers and *C customers have had the option of stopping Movie Entertainment Magazine and saving $1/mo for a long time.

I'd pay the $1.00 towards a better GUI guide.

2 days is terrible. They CAN increase it to 12 days like DISH but for whatever reason don't.

Little things like this make me miss the TIVO interface.

Other then that I'm happy with my 9200.

Cheers
