Better in snow: Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic?

I'm thinking about leasing a 2010 Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla but I'm worried about how they will do in winter. I live on a steep hill and the roads are poorly plowed, lots of ice, etc. Would these cars do OK? Which would be better?

both will be terrible considering both are FWD. you wont get any traction especially on a hill. you should get a subaru legacy or something that is at least all wheel drive

Well the Toyota Corolla has most of the weight in the front of the car and since this is front wheel drive, you will have more traction. But the Honda Civic does weigh 100 lbs. more and has almost the same weight distribution as the Toyota Corolla. 61/39 Weight Distribution of the Toyota Corolla and the Honda Civic has 59/41. They both have a LSD and traction control so I really think it could go either way. I would go with the Honda Civic since the the suspension is somewhat stiff which gives you more contact to the road, and the snow tires will drastically help you in your search for traction during winter. If you are driving on ice, it is advised to travel at a modest 5 mph so both these vehicles would probably be no different on the ice. But in a test between the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, and Mazda 3, CarandDriver picked the Honda Civic because it better to drive and the drive by wire is fantastic. The Honda Civic also comes with a comfortable interior, great interior quality, user friendly interface, and it does come with ABS which will help you in the slow. It really depends on customer loyalty and which you like better but I would go with the Honda for the reason I have said above. GOOD LUCK!!!

No difference. Both front wheel drive and similar weights. In those conditions the driver may be the thing that determines how well it goes up a slippery hill.
Sounds like you really need a small 4 x 4

Niether. Both are front wheel drive and terrible in snow. Get the cheaper one, then buy an atv and put chains on the tires. Park your car at the bottom of the driveway, and drive up it with the atv.
