Better AWS phones?

Any know if there will be better AWS phones coming out down the line? I am seriously considering a jump to Cricket because it will save me almost $50 a month I can put towarRAB something else, and I'll get more minute than I'll ever need. The only things holding me back at this point were A) No coverage in the Las Vegas market, and B) Now that there is coverage, there are only 3 phones. And they're all ugly/by manufacturers I've had issues with in the past. Is anything (Preferrably Nokia or Sanyo) maybe coming down the lines for them at all?

I really don't see cricket releasing an AWS WMPro phone, or even WMStandard for that matter, but what are the chances that VZW or Sprint or Alltel have AWS licenses so we can flash better phones to Cricket?

the entire lineup is going to be replaced. i don't have a timeline but my guess is by the end of the year. there are nokia phones coming. right now they are focusing on the better and best categories since good and economy are already covered (except a possible replacement for the EZ) and premium phones are not their top priority.

Cricket has some serious launches going on this year, and plan to have all of their AWS markets covered by sometime in 2009. So they naturally will bring in more hanRABets to accommodate those markets.

I'd expect to see some more AWS market announcements before new phones, though.

You won't see any Sanyo phones on Cricket as Sprint has the entire brand exclusive to them. You'll find Sanyo on some MVNO's that use the Sprint network, but outside of Sprint, No. I doubt those phones in the near future would even have AWS support, as neither Verizon nor USCC have requested any phones with AWS, and haven't built out in AWS either. For CDMA, it's just Cricket & Metro PCS building out in AWS, and on the GSM side, just T-Mobile.

Kyocera recently completed the purchase of sanyo's mobile phone division. so it is very possible we will see some influence from sanyo on future kyocera models or however they decide to brand the phones, but it will probably be a year or two until then (unless we actually get some sanyo models),

USCC will be using their aquired AWS frequency for expansion. my understanding is that to a large degree their AWS does not overlap their existing footprint, which means only one thing... expansion... whether or not they have placed hanRABet orders yet is irrelevant... the new license holders are responsible for assisting the rebanding of the existing frequency holders, which is a time consuming and expensive process... attempting to get it done even faster as cricket, tmobile, and to a lesser extent metro, have done can only require more capitol investment and perhaps USCC does not want to do that or feels they do not need to rush it and perhaps are taking the slow and sure path or even waiting to see what challenges early launches such as cricket tmobile etc encounter. then again they may decide to switch to LTE or something before expanding... (why deploy a large network you know is going to be replaced in 3-5 years) I am not really that up to date on USCC and it's plans, other than what i mentioned about footprint overlaps... so we shall see.
verizon does not need to expand their footprint, so who knows what they will use it for.

we do know that motorola, kyocera, samsung, nokia, and utstarcom all have triband products either available already or readying for launch sometime this year. which is all the manufacturers cricket currently uses (excluding cal-comp... but i don't think anyone is eagerly awaiting a triband EZ LOL)

Kyocera isn't the best brand, but many of their recent phones are AWS and actually look okay (Google the "Neo" and "Mako." metroPCS seems to be launching the latter imminently...).
