tropical fish food is perfect for Beta's, and you do not need a heater for your bta, as long as you keep the tank in a warm spot in your house. for instance my bathroom stays te warmest so i put the tank in there, and have been feeding tropical ish ood to my bea foralmost yr now, so hope this helps

No, it's not normal. Temperature is a good possibility. Try feeding live foods like brine shrimp, wingless fruit flies, small crickets, and baby guppies. Others should work as well.

I've had this fish only for a little over 3 weeks, and it's not eating any food. I've tried two different brands of pellets and freeze dried blood worms, and it'll eat them for a day or two, then it won't eat it any more. and i've tried altering what it eats every day, but still nothing...is this normal?

No, something must be wrong with it. Betta fish like to eat.How old did the pet store say your fish was. Because maybe it's really old. OR your fish might be sick. It could be blocked and have a stomach ache. Try calling a vet.

he's probably cold. does he have a heater? if not, get him one or move him somewhere warmer in the house.
good luck!!

It sounds like you're getting pretty fancy with the food which is a good thought but all they really need is fish food. Go to a petsmart or somewhere, I got tropical fish food for my betta (my friend had hers living on goldfish food idk if u should do that but hey it worked). When mine stopped eating it was near the time that he left us. Fish are fish, it's sad but don't jump to conclusions because there could be something simple you're just forgetting.
