Betta fish get along?

I was wondering if my Betta fish would get along with any other types of fish? I know they are fighting fish and can not get along with most other fish.

Beta fish cannot be with other fish.
They will devour them. Or die trying.
It`s not a good idea at all. It`s not even a good idea to put two in one tank.
Thats why at the pet store theyre in little plastic containers instead in one big tank

Ignore those that say a betta will instantly kill any other fish they encounter. They can make good tank mates, if a few things are done. No other fish with long, flashy fins like fancy type guppies. Also no barbs or mollies. Both are known fin nippers and the betta will be the one in trouble. Some people say not with gouramis and this might be so. i never tried it. But usually with tetras, rasboras and platies, they seem to get a long. Now, that said, it all depends on the character of all fish included. If its a especially aggressive betta, then he might have too many hormones rolling around and would be better off by himself to begin with. Also other types of fish can be aggressive when they are known to be so. Nothing is written ins tone, but there are indicators and that's all we can give you. Make sure the tank is not crowded, there are plenty of plants and other things for hding places and things should work out.

Bettas can get along with other fish, but they have different personalities. So you might get one that is nice... or not. Also, it depends on the size of the tank, places to hide, water conditions... etc. Nothing that has a long tail and even semi-aggressive fish like tiger barbs would nip at it! Our local Petco has been putting bettas in the tanks with other fish. (Obviously not other bettas or inappropriate fish.) They even have a list of what fish are compatible with others.

They actually can. As long as they are put in a big enough tank then they can go with most fish that are also semi aggressive, like rainbow sharks, albino sharks, gourami's, barbs. They can even be housed with tetras. Most people will say not to do it, but I've had quite a few Betta's, and when they are in a tank on their own with no other Betta's they are normally more shier. Betta's are actually part of the gourami family. If you were to put it in a tank with another Betta then you certainly would have a problem! I have 5 local fish shops and they all display their Betta's in tanks with other fish. If you want to stay on the safe side get a female, as they nip less then the males, and females can even be put in with mollies.
