I've been planning to breed 2 veil tail bettas that I bought from Wal-mart (yeah I know bad place) and have been conditioning them for 2 weeks. I just put them in the breeding tank, the female in hurricane glass so that the male can see her, but not get to her. She is plump, and showing vertical lines along with a white spot on her belly, which I have been told means she's ready. I'm waiting for the male to build his bubble nest, and my question is: will they breed, knowing they have come from wal-mart. They have been eating brine shrimp for 2 weeks before being put in the breeding tank. I'm not looking for profit, I just want to breed them for experience, then I have already made arrangements with my LFS to take well care of them, in all separate tanks. If this pair spawns successfully, I plan on getting 2 quality half moon bettas from AB and breeding them to better the species. I have done research, and I know the fry may not be quality, but I have a home ready to take ALL of them. So, will they breed, or have I just wasted my time planning this out all for nothing?
