Beta Fish male female. Type of water?

Hello I got 2 beta fish for my birthday. A male and a female. Can I put them in a bowl together? Well they mate together? Also, what type of water do I use? Tap? Arrowhead? Is there special water that I need to use?
 
If you plan on putting them in a bowl, theyll die. If you plan on putting them in a bowl together, the female will be killed, then the male will die.

2.5 gallon tank is the minimum for one fish. A heater and filter is required.

If you want to breed them, youll need several 20 gallon tanks and several 5 gallons. If you are even thinking about putting them in a bowl, you arent ready to even attempt breeding bettas.
 
you cant keep bettas together period even of opposite sex. Because like others said, male will kill the female unless its mating time. I highly doubt you are experienced enough to know how to breed the bettas from what you said.
